One other rare opportunity presents itself this month as the ScoreG team will get the chance to film Dolph Lundgren on set of his new film in which he will be both starring in and directing.

Image

This marks an important transition in Dolph's career as he takes on additional layers of responsibility and creative control. Throughout our time filming Dolph's documentary nearly everyone we've talked with has mentioned how directing is such a natural fit for Dolph. His sharp intellect, unmatched work ethic, and creative vision is a potent recipe perfectly suited to the director's chair. Our team will be heading out at the end of May to capture the magic

Dolph

Image

The second leg of the production trip brought us to what I can confidently say is Rankin’s exact opposite…the sweltering desert of Las Cruces, New Mexico. This town played host to the set of Dolph Lundgren’s newest movie, which he was both directing and starring in. As mentioned before, Dolph possesses the traits and characteristics that make him a natural fit for the responsibility of directing a feature film.

One thing I learned, and this may not be surprising to anyone who has operated cameras before, is that our gear holds up far better in cold temperatures than it does in the heat. I never would have guessed that our cameras needed as much shade as a spoiled producer.

This trip was special for a couple reasons. Not only was it the first time we have had the chance to be behind the scenes with Dolph on one of his movies, but this was also the first time we have gotten the chance to bring a member of the Creative Hustler Key community along to be a producer for a day.

ScoreG Filmmaking Experience Giveaway #1 - Day with Dolph

Image

Our lucky winner of the first ScoreG Filmmaking Experience Giveaway was Michael from San Diego. Michael was given the opportunity to join us as an Associate Producer on set for a Day with Dolph in Las Cruces, New Mexico; all expenses paid.

We had such a great time with Michael talking about Dolph, filmmaking in general, and getting to share this special day with him. While I can’t give away anything from the plot of Dolph’s movie, let’s just say we got a chance to see some prominent actors get shot to high hell!

Michael was an absolute pleasure to have with us on set. He was polite, curious, helpful, and flexible when things did not go according to plan – a real team player. The American even humoured us while we found a sports bar to watch the Oilers knock the Flames out of the playoffs. Thanks Michael!

DOLPH • When our team set out to produce a documentary film on Mr. Dolph Lundgren we were incredibly excited to assemble an entertaining film that would celebrate Dolph’s career and wonderful life story. What we had not anticipated was to experience was the visceral and consistent stream of inspiration that would push us to work on improving ourselves each and every day. Each shoot, every interview, and all of the quiet moments we have shared with Dolph, have provided us with the excess munitions to do the little things necessary to find our own success and happiness. There is zero doubt that making this film with Dolph has made each member of our crew a more compassionate and hardworking individual, both at work and at home.
As we launch into our edit we wanted to thank Dolph and Emma for allowing us into your lives. This is going to be a very special film about an incredibly inspiring person, and who has experienced a life which undoubtedly deserves a film to celebrate it — a film which will hopefully show audiences that they are capable of anything they put their minds to, even if that is simply finding peace and happiness. Please stay tuned.

DIRECT TO DOLPH

The American Dream. An immigrant’s greatest hope – leave their home country to relocate to the United States of America, seeking financial success and the comforts that America offers. In today’s news cycle, we mainly see politicized features on immigrants from war-tattered and poor South American countries, but there are others searching for that white picket fence. Dolph Lundgren shared this dream as a child -- his Father told him at a young age that if he wanted to make something special with his life, he had to go to America. Now an internationally famous icon, it’s safe to say that Dolph has successfully attained his American dream -- he currently lives a wonderful life in Los Angeles as to he continues to thrive as an in demand artist.

Well known for his tall stature and high level of fitness, Dolph belongs to a generation of film actors who epitomise the movie action hero stereotype including Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Wesley Snipes, and Jean-Claude Van Damme, many of whom he has worked with in his career.

For thousands of years, many have tried to calculate a formula for success. Yes, hard work seems to be the common denominator, but it’s also very evident that those who achieve great accomplishments in their life have some sort of hidden “it” factor. Dolph’s story is no different. We examine how a once insecure kid from Sweden was able to put it all on the line for a chance to transform himself into one of the most badass action stars of all time.

“I think mortality makes you live a fuller existence. When I was a kid I was scared of death, and maybe that’s what made me desperate to get the most out of life.”
— Dolph Lundgren

Rubber Band, Man - October 2022

Intro

Hey SGP fam! We hope you were all able to eke out the last few weeks of warm weather. The summer grind for us at ScoreG Productions was REAL. Between Adam and myself, we had the team on the road for nearly the entire month of September. We spent time in Manitoba, and back up in Rankin Inlet, with Jordin for the Tootoo documentary. The team then took off to North Carolina, New York City, and LA to wrap up filming on Dolph Lundgren’s documentary.

Roundup

Speaking of the Dolph documentary, time has flown by. We actually began principal photography on this project in September 2021, and started pre-production nearly a year before that. The life cycle of each project is complex. There are periods of craziness, where you’re constantly on the road, losing all sense of time and space. Subsequently, there are periods of downtime, where you can catch your breath and plan for the next bout of mania. It’s easy to get lost in the micro view of each project, forgetting what the bigger picture looked like when you first began.

Our director for Dolph’s documentary, and longtime friend/collaborator, Andrew Holmes, had some thoughtful words with perspective that he shared on Instagram, and we wanted to highlight here:

“When our team set out to produce a documentary film on Mr. Dolph Lundgren we were incredibly excited to assemble an entertaining film that would celebrate Dolph’s career and wonderful life story.

What we had not anticipated to experience was the visceral and consistent stream of inspiration that would push us to work on improving ourselves each and every day. Each shoot, every interview, and all of the quiet moments we have shared with Dolph have provided us with the excess munitions to do the little things necessary to find our own success and happiness. There is zero doubt that making this film with Dolph has made each member of our crew a more compassionate and hardworking individual, both at work and at home.

As we launch into our edit we wanted to thank Dolph and Emma for allowing us into your lives. This is going to be a very special film about an incredibly inspiring person, who has experienced a life which undoubtedly deserves a film to celebrate it — a film which will hopefully show audiences that they are capable of anything they put their minds to, even if that is simply finding peace and happiness. Please stay tuned.”

Behind the Scenes

Right now ScoreG Productions feels like a rubber band. We’ve been stretched back, finishing up principal photography on the Jordin Tootoo and Dolph Lundgren documentaries (almost done!), and, as soon as those are wrapped, we’ll be catapulted forward into production on the next two projects. One of which – Bif Naked – you know about. The other is still to be announced, but you will probably have a good idea if you’ve been following closely along!

While in LA, we also had a chance to check in with Dolph Lundgren who is now in the final stages of post production on the film he both directed and starred in– the same one we spent time on the set of in the blazing sun of New Mexico last May. Only a few final interviews left before we wrap principal photography and dive deep into post production on this one!
