Not at all, please do!

Thank you for the heads up, that's cool! Even though the film is not that great, I'd be glad if you we could finally have a proper HD release and most of all in its original widescreen aspect ratio, and even though I don't have any release from them yet Kino Lorber seems to do a good job technically and often provides special features for both old classics and cult genre flicks (not that I expect a special edition of THE MINION haha, but a decent transfer will do!).

I have quite few of their releases, and they usually do a pretty good job. However for The Minion, I think, we will only get the Trailer as a special feature. The real treat will be seeing it in HD in correct aspect ratio.

Just a quick update straight from Kino themselves.

Will be out in 2019. Most likely February or March.

Waiting on confirmation that it will be Blu-Ray.

And just got confirmation, that it will be DVD and Blu-Ray.

Both, brand new HD master.

Nice! 8)

All we need now to close the 1985-1998 period is COVER-UP and BLACKJACK.

Any word on whether we will get both versions of the film? I’d kill to get the Hong Kong version with the alternate opening.

I wouldn't hold my breath. I mean this is still Disney we're talking about here.

I don't think Disney/Touchstone has the US rights anymore.

It's part of a package deal that Kino did with them. I'll post the relevant bit.

Last week we announced the remaining ABC and Selznick titles - To put a stop to all these speculations, we're sharing the list of the remaining/unannounced Touchstone/Hollywood titles currently under license to KL - some will be released as special editions, others regular (with maybe one extra or none) and some we'll most likely not release, at least not for a while.

Another Stakeout (1993)
Aspen Extreme (1993)
Before and After (1996)
Billy Bathgate (1991)
D.O.A. (1988)

My Boyfriend’s Back (1993)
My Science Project (1985)

EDIT: While it's not produced by Disney or their various studios proper, they somehow acquired it and still have it based on what I was going back through and reading.

Kino Lorber will release THE MINION on March 19 from a new 2K master, and with audio commentary by director Jean-Marc Piché ! 8)
That alone is worth it despite the film being very flawed and problematic in many ways.
