Just got an email from Maxime Alexandre, the cinematographer (translated from French):
The shooting of "The defender" went well, a bit tough because we hadn't much time and it was really cold!
Dolph is very nice, and he had all the most very clear ideas for his film, although he could listen to other suggestions.
Yes, he knew me thanks to the movie "Haute Tension"
[recent, kind of French "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" directed by Alexandre Aja, to be released by Lions Gate in the US I think]

THE DEFENDER NEVER SEEN BEFORE PICS ONLINE. UPDATE !!!

Postby Krom on 31 Mar 2004, 22:00

Sorry fo dealy...
This article is from HBO Romanian Magazine :

Transaltion:

"LUNDGREN WORKED VERY HARD IN ROMANIA"

"Dolph Lundgren directorial debut in Buftea. He stay here 5 weeks.4 weeks for work and the rest for travels in Bucharest. He leaved Romania in the beginning Of march. He worked6 day per week between 12-14 hours daily.

Dolph is the director, main character and CO-WRITER (!!!) in THE DEFENDER!

The story is about ... (the same think that we knew already)

The producers are pushing more money on the editing in the one of the best dolph movies in years.

Dolph it's very excited about thsi new movie.

The set location hasn't been only im Buftea, some hangars from the Baneasa International Airport were very jamed too(this is a special airport only for small planes for bussiness man). This location hass been offered for filmimg by the owner, a very reach Emir from Arabia.

The other locations was at various hotels where their wals has been modified for protection from the explosions blast."

The president of Satchi and Satchi in Romania is one of the special guest appearance and his only line in this movie is with Jerry Springer (the president of USA) and says: "You have a phone call sir"

If you'll see the original photo 1 with Dolph near that BMW 7 Class you'll fell an A movie.

Now here are the photos. They are scanned in maximum zoom quality coz in magazine were pretty small:

The music that plays on the video from that website is also in the soundtrack of the movie Spy Game. Very good soundtrack.

post-production doesn't only include editing, it also means special effects (when necessary), sound mix, color timing, scoring the film etc...

the resume of the DEFENDER's art director Matthew Button (http://www.dinedormanagement.co.uk/resumes_folder/mbutton.pdf) mentions Sydney Furie as the director, so I wonder if Dolph hadn't replaced Furie at the 11th hour (Button probably last updated his resume before the production began, so maybe Furie was attached to direct)
