Supposedly, if they do it right, this should be corrected with the Blu-ray (since it's the HD to standard DVD definition that got screwed).

it has no humor in it and the film just isn't any fun.
That was not meant to be fun to begin with.

Me neither. It was a loooong time ago that I watched Pale Rider. Maybe I'll check it out again. I hope Dolph will not create a remake of High Plains Drifter though. But I don't think so anyways.

I wouldn't want him to do a modern remake of High Plains Drifter too but it would be nice to see him play the kinda anti-hero Clint Eastwood made popular. His roles in A Fistful of Dollars and the aforementioned High Plains Drifter were almost bad guy roles, he was a womaniser, liar, cheat, extortionist and cold blooded killer. It would be nice to see a character like this for Dolph in Wanted Man who eventually gets "what's coming to him." Would made for an interesting departure much like the role I suspect he was to play in Double or Nothing.

Reposting the first (brilliant) trailer for "Missionary Man", including Kiowa's deleted voice over ("It's hard to believe that the arrival of one man could change so much for so many. That's exactly what happened that day...")

Costume designer Janet Lucas Lawler was a customer on movies such as ROBOCOP and LICENSE TO KILL or THE HOT SPOT.

Absolutely, since its announcement in a Cannes interview from 2006, Dolph described it as being in the vein of Akira Kurosawa's YOJIMBO, Jean-Pierre Mellville's LE SAMOURAI, the westerns SHANE, BILLY JACK and... HIGH PLAIN DRIFTER! As you can tell, it's even more of a remake of PALE RIDER. Dolph is a huge fan of Eastwood who's his idol and model.

Some great names and great films you have mentioned there, Yojimbo and Le Samourai are my fav films of all time, simply brilliant. I can watch them over and over again. Same with Eastwood. I remember reading once that when the Westerns were released they were panned, and he was considered to be a wooden actor, who wrong they were!

High Plains Drifter and Pale Rider are really underrated Eastwood films, he really showed his class and an acotr and director in them. Great plot and storyline, its just a shame that there isn't really a market for this stuff, many people just don't seem to prefer it.

I am glad Dolph is inspired by these films and directors. I did not know this, and being a fan of the aforementioned and the man himself, I hope he does himself justice and gets a break. I know he has limited budgets but so far there is potential, and to be honest I'd rather see his films than the usual crap in the cinemas.
