Great Stevens book link and photos, thanks for sharing, gang!

Dolph almost always mentions this film as the one he was proud of because while he did direct and write, he was also the 2nd Unit Director and star channeling his icon Clint Eastwood the entire shoot. Aside from the usual Pale Rider and High Noon (town taken over by violent gang themes) tribute, it is always energetic in it's whole build-up which I truly dig.

I used to have family that lived in the Waxahachie area, real shame that Texas doesn't have it's incentives program together as it deserves to be as big a place as California or New York. Lead actor Matthew Tompkins is apparently a very to the point actor but can also be a real stuck up jerk on other film sets I knew about; he also released some revenge/Commando type films that were real stinkers and co-written by him, showcasing that he was way too full of himself. However, his jerk attitude is totally appropriate for his main villain role in this film and I also dug producer Stevens' cameo as one of the armed dealers, definitely one of his less forced cameos.

I don't think they were allowed a second unit, I don't remember if if mentioned it's in the credits but then it's meant for additional photography / pick-ups...

Yes, it's in the end credits, that's the only reason I know. Even on low-budget film shoots, they will sometimes send all the other coordinators and assistant directors to other locations to shoot key stuff with other actors or background talent or get B-roll footage just to keep a film on-schedule.

However, second units also are the ones often handling all the complicated action sequences so it makes sense that Dolph was making sure that was right from square one.

It was additional photography, they went to pick up more shots months after principal had wrapped, so not the same crew was there hence the "2nd unit" credits... This was a very small production.

Guess that shows how passionate Dolph was about this particular story. He was on both units, principle and the follow-up, LOL.

When it's about reshoots the director is pretty much there every time, and why wouldn't he (except for times he's been replaced)?

Some souvenirs from my time as an extra in @Dolph_Lundgren movie #MissionaryMan. The man and baby next to dolph is my nephew and brother in law. These photos were taken behind the scenes, and Mr Lundgren was nice enough to give me a autograph as a memento of my experience :)
