This one is also missing from my collection. It's a difficult one to find I guess. Anyone has some info on a region 2 version with the original English audio?

I guess most are out of print now. Try to get the French one (there's also a Czech and Polish discs you might from sellers on Amazon). Otherwise I suggest getting a multiregion player (or sometimes Blu-ray players work that way for all DVDs) because in that case and AGENT RED I'd reommend the region 1 original release with audio commentary (and better image).

French B-movie journalist Damien Granger is putting out fanzines flyers from film markets, that should be put out as a book at the end of the year:

Some reviews of the 1987 original novel
(which was simplified and a changed a lot by the time the film was made 12 years later)
'Brilliant... Jill Rips is harrowing, but its grim poetic vision makes it the best novel of its kind for years' - Richard Steele Today

'There is real talent at work here; lively laconic dialogue, prose as clean as a picked chicken bone and a conspicuous ability to carve a character out of a few lean words ... a chilling novel' - Alan Taylor Glasgow Herald

'Violent and vicious, Lindsay's unsparing tale beds down with the imagination like a succubus' - John Coleman The Sunday Times

'A chilling horror story ... extraordinarily well written and quite hypnotic in its effect' - Noeleen Dowling Dublin Evening Press

The author of Brond sets his second novel in a city like Glasgow during the 100th anniversary of Jack the Ripper's notorious crimes. Imitating the London fiend, Scottish ``Jills'' torture and maim men, perhaps avenging victimized whores. Private detective Murray Wilson tests this theory, following clues in the city's reeking slums and, at the same time, checking on Irene, wife to his brother Malcolm. Lovely Irene, remarkably tolerant of Malcolm's unbridled womanizing, arouses Murray's suspicions, and he fears that his brother will be the fifth Jill kill. Lindsay writes poetically but often so obliquely that much of his meaning escapes the reader. On the other hand, descriptions of appalling people and of hideous perversions are all too clear. The author is adapting his books for British TV; unless drastically edited, this one will invite an X-rating. (May)

Back in 2000, JILL RIPS and AGENT RED were shown on the big screen at a Tokyo "Battle Festival"

The DVD commentary by director Anthony Hickox is worth a listen (it's actually the only real way I watched the film) since he explains how he occasionally had to put up with the demanding attitudes of executive producer Damian Lee and Dolph while in the editing room to where he admired their passion but just wished he would let them do his job without all the extra lip.

I can understand how the slow nature is a bit much but do like the themes and material portrayed here, more so than in other serial thrillers at the time. Jim Wynorski once again appears as a producer only credited by one of his other many aliases, "Noble Henry."

Everyone should give the commentary and film a look when possible.

JILL RIPS must be the only film where Dolph's character actually has a mother (one that is alive and he has interactions with).

Remember the line "I'm not a whore, I'm a specialist"?

I wanna say, "I'm not a (just) a fan, I'm a specialist"... Notably on certain other message boards (where I regularly almost get bullied for raising more mature considerations and questions...
