Ultimate Dolph

Have just watched this movie for the first time.

Hicox did a much better job thatn he did with Storm Catcher. Its a moody,dark story that I feel Dolph held his own in. The ending I feel is the only let down as I feel that the movie built up but just didnt quite make it at the end which was a shame. Still very good to see Dolph stretch his acting in this and not just his biceps.

The only way to make up your mind about it is to watch it. And just for the fact that it's not your usual Dolph movie you should give it a try. Just don't expect any shootouts, fights (so little it doesn't count) or stunts, this is a serial killer investigation type story and Dolph is far from playing heroic here. Granted the movie is not perfect and has flaws, but I think people who don't like or hate this movie do it for the wrong reasons, and that makes it even more worthwhile.

Cool interview. Hickox is a good guy and a better director than guff like Submerged and Stormcatcher give him credit for.

I'd love to see Dolph work with Tony again, under better, Damien Leeless circumstances. Perhaps a Dolph cameo in a horror flick of some kind could be pretty cool.

Interestingly, i hear (not having seen the Jill Rips DVD) that Hickox felt Dolph interfered with the production. Is this true? If so, why the change of heart?

Tony liked Dolph a lot, but a problem was that Dolph had final say on most of the production, as did Damien Lee. Not so much a change of heart, cuase he never said in the commentary that he disliked Dolph, though he was quite dispondant about the fact that a director in these sorts of films, isn't given the freedom to direct.

I just had more than an hour of interview with Tony Hickox (who's as good and fun talking to than as to listen to in his commentaries). He said he would make a movie anytime with Dolph again with the right script. Had only good things to say about Dolph, and even Franchise... no the nightmarish one to deal with was Damian Lee, who was bringing it all to himself, and at this point got Dolph in his pocket for production and editorial decisions (and Dolph was very involved in Jill Rips yet very unsecured because it was so different)... some good stuff...

If you knew how I almost shit in my pants when I checked the recording and all I could hear was my freakin' voice! Thankfully I can hear the whole thing in a sound program but for some reason Hickox is really low, that had not happened with my other interviews...
