Latest episode of the podcast has arrived, this time taking a look at Lundgren's foray into the S&M thriller genre, JILL THE RIPPER! Brenton Haysom from All Outta Bubblegum joins me once again as we attempt to make sense of this rare Dolph-starring thriller that's not a full-on action film!

I was just reminded that January 28th marked the 20th (!) anniversary of JILL RIPS' HBO premiere release (under its first of two re-titles, TIED UP)

This pre-sales/pre-production key art remained used in almost every territories with minor variants...

Metropolitan (France) has JILL RIPS available in HD (on VOD to rent for 48 hours only). 8)

This is one me and a friend wish for a proper Blu-ray (which I'm afraid will be an even less likely format now, the current situation will likely make VOD rule)...

While it had premiered on cable 7 months earlier, the VHS & DVD came out on July 3-4, 2000. It was what made me buy my first DVD player.

Anyone here that owns one of the two French DVDs and knows if you can turn off the French subtitles on the English audio track?

The subtitles are forced on the French edition.

Damn, that's a shame :( I'm only missing this film and The Minion the US DVD seems to be OOP now and I know the German, Polish and Swedish DVDs are all in 4:3. I found it online for a very cheap price so I might just buy it and live with the forced subtitles for now since I doubt I'll find the US DVD for a reasonable price + shipping any time soon. Thanks for the quick response tho!

For THE MINION, if you have a region-free player you can get the Kino Lorber DVD release (remastered and widescreen).

This is the only Lundgren movie I have never seen. Is there a region 2 dvd somewhere available without forced subtitles (like the French one). Hopefully there will be a German release sometime. Germany is the only country who gives these kind of movies decent releases.

I have a region-free player and the Kino release for The Minion is still on my to-buy list together with a few other titles from them but they tend to be a little too pricy for me. But at least The Minion is easily available on DVD and blu-ray.

There are region 2 releases without forced subtitles I think but they're all in 4:3. Germany does often release some more interesting and unique titels first and depending on the label they can be quite decent indeed. If it would get a new release in Germany sometime I hope it will get English audio (the current DVD's only have German) and they won't use a cut version of the film (the current version you can rent on the German Amazon Prime also seems to have a shorter running time)

I would be so happy with a decent Blu-ray edition. There is an HD master available since it's on streaming in France...

It would be nice to get a blu-ray release especially since there's already an HD master available (altho this doesn't mean much there are plenty of films and tv series with HD masters that are still stuck on DVD or VHS) And if we do get a blu-ray let's hope it won't be one of those shady Spanish releases :P
