This has changed home video distributor from Anchor Bay to Universal. Im not sure if the Blu is a new print or not. I'll keep you posted.

I bet it is the same trasnfer but we never know, so that'd be cool if you had some good news (proper 1.85:1 instead of 1.78:1 and 1080p instead of 1080i)...

It's also a fuckin' rotten movie. I'd forgotten all about it. Maybe it's a better film when you watch it in 1080p

Thanks. No surprise here, Anchor Bay UK doesn't exist anymore and I guess Universal took over some of its existing catalog.

It's bad but sort of grew over time and compared to some of the things that get made today. Still kinda ridiculous at times notably because of how it was produced. It wouldn't have been a masterpiece anyway but it was an interesting attempt initially.

PS
the BR release is not even 1080p but 1080i ;)

I never realised that the production designer (James Hinckley) and the editors (Richard Nord and Joseph Gutowski) of PENTATHLON had previously done PASSENGER 57, as well THE FUGITIVE for Nord and Gutowski...

While of course one of the (re)writers Gary DeVore has got to his credit DOGS OF WAR, RAW DEAL, RUNNING SCARED as well as uncredited rewrites of SHOWDOWN IN LITTLE TOKYO, PASSENGER 57, TIMECOP and SUDDEN DEATH...

PS:
Dolph just did some promotion with the US pentathlon team for the Olympics...

Too bad that the Blu-ray format doesn't sell well enough in Japan for the distributors to release Dolph titles in HD, they would probably have some of the best masters and encoding/compression...
