I'd assume in all his superstar power of 1985 that the released film was Sly's director's cut... I know there are a few deleted scenes floating around but other than that I don't know what he can change to make it better.

great news ! i can't believe it. On IMDB is listed that director's cut is 107 minutes long. Maybe soon we are going to see the famous Cobra (1986) director's cut too. All this director's cut appear when studio or director's got in difficult financial situation. Ford Coppola last 15 years only director's cut is making, Ridley Scott etc Now Stallone understands that his last movies are just DTV or rental movies, fame is gone and is time for action. Let's hope that SILT will get it's deserved director's cut. Come on Mark L Lester do it ... please

This upcoming director's cut may also bring some special features on ROCKY IV finally, at least an audio commentary by Sly would be greatly appreciated...

Super excited yet also hesitant about new cut. On one hand I figured it would add some character moments, Rocky and Apollo training or make Drago more sympathetic. But to hear the robot might be excised makes me think Sly will try to make this more serious than needed.
It's such an emotional, inspiring, kinetic and weird montage-music video of a film. That's why it works so well and lends to constant rewatching compared to 1 or 2.

I say this will be an interesting companion to the 1985 release for comparison, but will never replace it of course. It's like a new 2020 cover or remix of a song...
The “Rocky in Concert” series will include six musical events for each of the six films in the original franchise, beginning with the film’s debut in 1976. The events will offer interactive experiences and exclusive merchandise to accompany the series.
Both events are currently scheduled to tour through North America, Europe, and Australia, with additional markets to be added. The concerts are planned to begin in July 2021 and run through the end of June 2024.
