There is also a Dolph 3-pack at Wal-Mart.

While the US trailer is cool, just like I thought, Anchor Bay is highly banking on the release of THE EXPENDABLES to sell this one... Pretty clear of that. Don't think Ive seen a trailer that is more obvious of their intentions either... Just the line, "He's NOT expendable" made me laugh.

They should've released a director 3 disc collection with recent movie such as command performance and the mechanic or the defender.
Anyway it good to see that HE'S BACK!!!

I agree, that line was so cheesy.

“The Killing Machine” -- which I must admit I liked -- is Dolph’s latest movie as director, but the version released isn’t his director’s cut. The studio recut it and Dolph far from approves that version.

“What I learned from that movie is how not to make deals. Sometimes you make bad deals. And bad movies.”

Icarus

This is an interesting movie to review, not only because it's directed by the man himself, but also because it's his first directed film to be well under-par. I have seen The Mechanik and Missionary Man and I thought they were both very good quality films, but Icarus, with so much going for it, was lacklustre.

It started out promising, with the clear image and realistic gunfights/hand-to-hand, but the story was pretty obvious and it had that 'done before' stamp all over it. All in all it was just nothing special. The guy that comes back at the end after having half his cheek ripped out, why was he there? That made little sense to me.

Dolph's acting in this was annoying also. Why does he talk as if it's compulsory to have a pasude between each word. That really annoyed me, because I know he can act better and because the lines were so awful. I was really looking forward to watching this too, that is why I bought it whilst on my travels in China, but it just let me down.

I liked it, although you probably have to be a hardcore Dolph fan to like it because it is pretty cheap and standard fare. I wonder what Dolph's cut would look like though. I am also glad it wasn't color graded with that bluish tint. That is overused and looks cheap to me. I like a more natural look.

The title, The Killing Machine, is maybe not the most appropriate title but it will probably sell better.

The Dutch releasedate for Icarus is September 28th. Still nothing about the release of Command Performance......very strange.

UK BD review
http://www.obsessedwithfilm.com/reviews ... achine.php

I myself got a UK DVD "check disc":
if the retail version is the same, no extras but it features both the original 2.35 aspect ratio and "full screen" 1.78 on the same disc (at least you got the choice). The quality is decent but since they had to put two feature length version on the same disc the French edition has a better definition.
