Well Dolph's cut was definitely darker from what I've seen, and I saw a still from a deleted scene with his daughter towards the end (at the barn), but I never heard about her illness and death so I dunno. The producers cut also ends with her but who knows if it's not a happy ending scene they forced Dolph to shoot...

Closer to the "film noir" it should should have looked liked instead for the flashy TV look the producers gave it...

Dolph earlier starred in the other Canadian production Hidden Agenda, which also coincidentally has a spy agency called Icarus in it.

I can't believe you're at ICARUS already, seems like yesterday that you started the podcast! 8)

Regarding the look of the film, indeed this was the first DL film to be shot in digital (if we don't count US REGENERATION), DIRECT CONTACT and COMMAND PERFORMANCE were still filmed on 35mm film. And for ICARUS they chose the Panavision Genesis camera which was probably not as good as the RED.

Also, Dolph and his DP had intended to give the film a darker, more "film noir" look with the color grading, but that never happened since we know the movie was taken away and completed by the producers...

I know, I've been thinking the same! It's certainly been a wild journey that has led me down some amazing paths! I've established some great friendships and gotten to chat with individuals that I never thought I would!
