OK, you got it ! The Mechanik was mastered on HD, this should come out in HD-DVD or Blu-Ray or both.

Who else want some heavy Dolph on HD media ?

Post here ! :D

Well, I think as Dolph fans it's a long shot before we start fighting for HD DVD... If they really make up for all the titles and editions various distributors screwed up then sure. But his titles are certainly not on priority lists, so I don't think we'll see any for a while. And that might be for the best if it waits for HD format(s) to reach its peak... For me even in general, the HD-DVD/Blu-Ray issue is still over my head so wait and see...

But since we're on the subject, "Missionary Man" was shot on Super 16 (less grainy than it used to be, and like s lot of TV series) to get mastered directly to HD. So I hope they did more than a good job on the transfer...

I think it will still take some years until one of the formats will be established. And I won't buy until I knowh which format will be the winner. I'm pretty satisfied with the normal DVDs so far.

There will be already good to have some films in good quality sd editions, I think about Red Scorpion or Punisher.

The UK thing is just a release of the Special Edition that came out in 2004 in R1 (although UK already had a special edition in 2001 that featured a different audio commentary and 15 mins of B-roll behind the scenes).

But anyway Lionsgate announced the Blu-ray release for November 4th.

So they own the rights to the original? Why don't they buy the rights to a sequel from Sony? I would have thought that was Lionsgate's kinda deal, especially when you look at Rambo, another Carlco film if I'm not mistaken.

They're only licensed domestic (US) distribution rights that they got when they bought Artisan's catalog a few years back.

Yes Rambo was another Carolco title but things aren't simple, Nu Image went through quite some issues to get it back from Miramax, and then again Lionsgate came in for domestic distribution. Now it seems Nu Image and Lionsgate are gonna team up more tightly as they co-financing the next "Conan" for $100 million budget...

Seems like a good idea to me, two good companies with lots of potential.
