Anchor Bay UK seem to have got their hands on THE PUNISHER (now licensed by MGM) which is scheduled April 1st in the UK:

YES! Hasn't really been seen since VHS rental here. Are any of these MGM transfers uncut? I did notice the recent Blu Ray release (Dutch?) sported the MGM logo... is the forthcoming German one sporting an MGM print too??

Also, did you know the uncut blu ray is simply the theatrical version with the unrated sections only being standard definition? :/

NO IDEA BUT VERY LIKELY I GUESS.
(JOSHUA TREE was also licensed from MGM - and Fox)

That distinction does not make sense to me: I have seen the uncut version in theatres.
(France, don't know about the other worldwide releases but I'm sure it was uncut in Japan and other places as well - not so sure about the UK and Germany though)
"R-rated" would be a better term then than "theatrical".

That's for the upcoming German Koch Media edition it seems, the Dutch is cut, and we don't know what material Anchor Bay will be using (because they're also the kind who will make their own master) but it sure appears to be some issues having access or tracking a proper uncut internegative or print to make an all HD master...

I meant the R-rated version... many apologies.

I guess it's because the feature print is based on a cinema print, and am I right in thinking the extended footage is reframed VHS material? Sure I read that somewhere. Hard vto get a decent. consistent remaster I guess.

No VHS was for the German one released a few years ago. That will based on a Beta and Japanese laserdisc I think... They should have rented Goldblatt personal print (uncut)... Thing it's a title nobody really cared about and was handled then by independent distributors that have disappeared since the theatrical release. So really there must be some material in a storage warehouse somewhere unless all have been trashed...

I really wish they's approach Dolph for a sequel... I feel like he'd love the approach the character took once Garth Ennis started writing the stories... really hard-boiled and free of the spandex era tone that was happening in the late eighties.

A hint from the French distributor Metropolitan's website tells me that DETENTION might up for a Blu-ray release fairly soon...

Picked up the Aussie MOTU blu today. It has the same transfer as the Warner blu, and has the same extra features as well. I think even the menu was the same but I'll need to re-check the Warner disc to be sure.

And like the Warner release, it's region-free despite the back cover stating it's Region B.
