Quick question, are European Blu-rays all one region, like DVD's? I want to know if I can get the German Blu-Ray for my UK player.

Yes you can, there are only three codes left (two too many IMHO):

Europe shares the code with Africa, the Middle East and Australia.

I'm still holding off to get a BD player, it seems a bit more complicated to have a player made "all region" (even though most major studio discs are supposed to be region free) so I'm not sure what to get yet...

True. If I get that BD for my birthday it would have to come with a player, too. If it's the same situation as with the DVD players, the cheapest BD players will come region free and cause the least trouble. The major players just won't get it, even after a couple of decades.

My major worry about the German release, will be what Cut it is. They might take out a lot of violence. Hopefully we'll get a few other announced release in the meantime. I won't hold my breath for the UK release though!

By the way Tom, have you looked at the MECHANIK UK Blu-ray?

Not yet. I think from reviews, the quality isn't meant to be worth it. It's only got 2.0 sound too. The uncut German DVD has good picture and sound, so I don't think I'll upgrade with that.

Unisol looks good on Blu-ray though.

2.0 surround mix is actually better when you don't have a 5.1 system.
