I agree Payne's performance and his character are some of the lowest points of the film.

So can we at least agree that the soundtrack is refreshingly different (and good)? Besides the fact that I totally agree with Jox on this one?

Absolutely not, the soundtrack is also sh*t! Extended olive branch : REJECTED!!!

Actually I can't quite recall the specifics of the soundtrack right now, but I do like disagreeing ;)

I know that like Diamond Dogs, this one is rather slow and had a troubled production and others can't stand Bruce Payne's accent. I overall think this is another fun mash-up of Die Hard, Indiana Jones and other war/action scenarios that Nu Image was releasing around the same time (they ended up I think using some of these same explosions in one of their Operation Delta Force flicks). I also dig how they cite The New York Times and other unusual war crimes and scandals overseas related to mines and surprisingly enough while it isn't fully fleshed out, it also doesn't feel pretentious or half-arsed either.

Cameras stared rolling on this day 20 years ago...

(Trade ad with commencement date from a Cannes daily issue of The Hollywood Reporter)

With more than 2 months of filming and a budget around $10-12 million, this will be the last Dolph title of that era to benefit those kind of means. With 3 films in less than 6 months, 1997 was a busy year since he would soon follow up with the pilot of BLACKJACK...
