ASHLAND / STRAIGHT SHOT (Gabriel Sabloff, 2025) (filming)

Postby Jox on 18 Jul 2025, 00:04

Washed-up bodyguard, Frank Keller, must battle through fifty stories of hostile mercenaries to escape a skyscraper with his ex-fiancée, who’s been sealed inside a high-tech, prototype coffin.

Plot is cool at least. Sort of like if Dolph starred in THE RAID.

The director seem to have made descent movie. I'm more concerned with the producer as they have made a string of faith-based movies (not that I have anyhting against it, but from what I've seen they tend to be not very great, all faith aside).
As for this gem of a plot, to say they try to hype it is the understatement of the year
With an adrenaline-fueled plot and a stellar cast led by action star Dolph Lundgren, Ashland promises to deliver intense thrills and unexpected twists. Don’t miss out on this action-packed adventure that will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish.

Yes. Both director and producers have made lots of faith based stuff.
Could the plot be some sort of christian allegory? Doesn’t sound like it to me but I don’t really know my Bible.

All I know is it says he’ll battle through fifty stories of a skyscraper. My guess is floors 2 through 49 are going to look awfully similar to each other.

Three epic days directing the legendary Dolph Lundgren on my latest action movie, STRAIGHT SHOT. Such a great guy and major talent. Good times.

My guess is that given the pic on IMDb, Dolph will not be the hero, maybe a villain or an accessory character. Nothing to be really thrilled about in my opinion :(

The film, which producer Brenton Earley said has a budget of around $750,000,

I hope it's a typo or a misunderstanding.

My guess is that maybe it's deal with the producers for them to sort of produce one of Dolph's writing or directing project.

These days, maybe not... Or it could be just the "below the line" amount rounding up 1 or 1,5 million... In any case I've recently been told it's become even more difficult to finance these movies outside of streaming companies, and the problem with those is that they mostly want to develop movies from the beginning (to control everything) so they don't welcome outside projects much...

Plenty (too much ?) pictures on IMDB. Not sure about the look of Dolph though :?
And isn't that William Forsythe with the ponytail ?

At least we can tell they're not screenshots so they have an actual photographer on set.

I don't mind Dolph's look to be honest. Although I'm not particularly excited for this with it being made by David A.R. White and Gabriel Sabloff.
