Hopefully it's not a kinda bog-standard DTV script, especially if he is hoping to get some good names on board. Style and substance must go hand in hand.

The reason it has been pushed back after SKIN TRADE was to actually give the script a rewrite, give it more scope and make it a bigger movie.

That's very positive news. A good script is rare in DTV movies and as I get older I notice that more.

I'm glad Dolph takes his time with his movies, because we only want the best from Dolph and not just rush to make the movie for the paycheck, unlike Steven Seagal or wesley snipes.

My podcast co-host is going to kill me if I don't mention Grace Jones. He is in love with her. Do you keep in contact with her at all?

You know, I haven't talked with her in a couple of years. I saw her in Cannes a couple years back, just ran into her. It was a great relationship, she was very helpful in introducing me to show business... whether it was music or movies. Unfortunately it didn't work out after Rocky IV - too much happened too quickly in my life... and her life too. No, she's great... I love her music... in fact I'd love to use her music in something I'm directing. Because I have another script too called 'Wanted Man'... which is about a transvestite. Well, it's about a cop... straight guy... a tough guy... a really macho cop and a transvestite end up on the road together for some reason. The transvestite is actually a witness in a trial. Anyways, so... the situation has arrived for some Grace Jones music. So I have that in my back pocket as an idea... for next year maybe.

Yes it was supposed to be a western like MISSIONARY MAN was (but more action-packed), and the witness was to be a woman. Last year D told me it was being rewritten to make it more of an action comedy whatever that meant, and that Nu Image wanted to pair him with someone like Cuba Gooding Jr, but I never heard about that transvestite idea. Which reminds me that there was a project in the 90s where Sly and Arnold would have played cops undercover as transvestites...

Well, Kurt Russell was a Sweet Transvestite (part time) in Tango & Cash and it was awesome. ;-) Also, since Wesley Snipes and Patrick Swayze pulled of believable (and lovable) transvestites, why not another action guy. Biceps work even with glitter and cocktail dresses.

Just noticed that Michael Worth switched from martial arts b flick in the 90's (rarely the best ones) to what-seems-like-nice-filmaking these days ("Bring me the head of Lance Henriksen" ? I want to see that one; a story of an autist boxer ...) so if "Wanted Man" still happens, i'm kind of enthuiastic.

I don't know if it will happen, it's not a priority right now, but it's neither forgotten nor dropped.

Not forgotten and still in the back of Dolph's mind all these years (he kept mentioning it each time I was visiting him, last time in the spring 2014 with a director in mind), it seems WANTED MAN may be moving forward or at least seriously being discussed again... (maybe the experience of the just wrapped in Mexico LARCENY helping).

Forgive me if I'm late to the party with this one, but who is James Chalke, and how did he and D become so close? I know they've worked on a couple films together. How long have they known each other? Are they continuing to collaborate on future projects? To what capacity?

They go way back, like 30+ years ago, from Kyokushin karate, Chalke was training in England under Barry Evans, they met at tournaments and seminars etc, and Evans brought his students to Brian Fitkin's (Dolph's instructor, coach and mentor) club in Stockholm. Eventually Chalke moved to LA in the late 80s or early 90s. They shared some of the same acting classes. But I think they've become closer since the early 2000, when Dolph called up Evans to handle the fights of DIRECT ACTION. Then I don't know what the exact deal is between them but Chalke has been more or less involved in the development of projects MISSIONARY MAN, DOUBLE OR NOTHING, ICARUS, and I think his business make him able to invest.

They seem to be seriously working on it (found on MW instagram) and they randomly meet Stallone.
