I'm not huge on Kevin Sorbo, he seems like another nice guy though (and he can thank Dolph for his career lol, since Lundgren turned down the HERCULES TV series apparently  ..)

I thought Kevin was very handsome and cool but then I saw this bullshit clip on youtube where he apparently helped to spread ridiculous stuff that reminded me of some cults you read about. And he wasn't just a presenter, he was also a producer (or something similar that showed that he was really involved). That day I erased him from my watchlist.

Dolph stated in an interview he wouldn't mind a guest spot on SoA :) Well he was given a choice (by the radio DJs) whether he would want to be in SoA or Hawaii 5-0 and he picked SoA. I think he picked the right show although wouldn't mind seeing him in H 5-0 as well. That show has been having some cool guest stars...Mark Dacascos, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa

Don't see why not, he was recently in a DTV with Cuba Gooding and Ray Winstone.

With bad word of mouth & reviews and flop box office on Friday ($3,05M against 13M for TE) for CONAN, Dolph may have dodged a bullet by not being in this one after all...

God it was so bad... serves the REH crowd for slammin' the original for so long (my 2nd fav. movie of all time). Howard's stories just never translated well to the big screen IMO... and now "their" movie may well have killed off the sword & sorcery genre for a longggg time.

Speaking of DL I had no idea he was up for Herc... that was one of my all-time fav TV series... he would have been just as good as Sorbo in that or better!!!! Sorbo was great when it came to the comedy... which was largely 90% of the show but he never could deliver the serious notes... which is why Kull lacked some serious bite.

It was the director that killed Kull the Conqueror... but not because he was bad. Kull was directed by John Nicolella, which I believe is his only theatrical job. Far better known for his TV writing and directing work, he was one of the mainstays on Miami Vice for years, and was well regarded for his work within the urban action/drama field... the thought behind the reasons why Universal Studios even randomly guessed that he would be able to helm a grand and sweeping sword-and-sorcery epic escapes me, even to this day :/

They should have just done King Conan: Crown of Iron with an aging Arnie... that movie would have done some serious business. This remake had frikin' rock music as it's soundtrack and some of the worse editing I've ever seen. I have no idea why they thought this would do well... Hollywood doesn't give the fantasy audience enough credit... and probably never will... unless a talent like Peter Jackson is allowed to do his thing with minimal studio interference.

Conan the Barbarian (2011) - Review

Postby sagemovman on 25 Aug 2011, 11:15

'Conan The Barbarian is humorously tacky at first, then just plain boring. There are many sword battles and lots of sorcery but absolutely no movie magic. An utter waste of $90 million dollars as well as a massive missed opportunity for some late summer fun.'

I agree completely. No, it wasn't the greatest movie, but it still would have been another opportunity to see Dolph on the big screen again. I really don't see how he can turn down something like this, but say yes to things like ITNOK2 and RETROGRADE.

Dolph did not turn it down, he auditioned for the role (and was really hopping he'd get it), but Marc Nispel chose Ron Perlman instead. Retrospectively he concedes that the script was not very good to begin with.
