The Swedish actor, Dolph Lundgren has been named ‘Marbella Ambassador’. The actor who is best known for his role as a Russian boxer, Ivan Drago, in ‘Rocky IV’ has been chosen by the Town Hall to promote the image of the resort.

Mayor of Marbella, Angeles Muñoz, made a statement saying that it was ‘an authentic privilege to have neighbours as distinguished as Dolph, who could chose any place to live and has decided to be with us’. ‘He will promote the town and its image worldwide’, said Muñoz.

The actor has said that he and his wife and two children have made their home in Marbella and are not thinking of ever moving away, describing the town as ‘a very special place for my family’. He also noted the ‘warmth and hospitality of the locals, who know how to enjoy life in a way that is unique in the world’.

Lundgren is the second ‘Marbella Ambassador’, after the naming of Alejandro Blanco, the President of the Spanish Olympic Committee.

Interesting, and an honour indeed. I guess there are still a lot of celebrities in Marbella, but they chose Dolph. Nice!

Seems Dolph is everything, making movies, working on his next projects, promoting, making commercials etc... it's great to know what the big D is always up to, unlike JC or Seagal which they have barely any news.

The wheel turned! 10 years ago JCVD and Seagal were everywhere and pretty annoying if you ask me, now they lost what what they had it's harder to get over it especially with their egos. Dolph has no ego and nothing to loose and doesn't take anything for granted and it's finally paying off!

MARBELLA Town Hall has named Swedish actor Dolph Lundgren, who played the part of Russian boxer Ivan Drago in the film Rocky IV, as Ambassador of Marbella, due to his relationship with the town and his successful professional career.

Mayor Angeles Muñoz said that it is a privilege for Marbella to have such famous residents, and thanked him for choosing the town to live in. She also said that the actor ticks all the boxes as the kind of person the town wants to have ties with so that it can be promoted throughout the world.

“Our intention is to involve people with national and international prestige who love Marbella and feel it close to their heart as we know Dolph Lundgren does” said the mayor.

The actor’s wife and two daughters live in Marbella and apparently “have no intention of going elsewhere.” “Marbella is a very special place for my family, a marvellous city in which life can be enjoyed to the fullest” said the actor, who also spoke of the “beautiful contrast between La Concha mountain and the blue sea.”

He also spoke of the warmth and hospitality of the local people, who he said know how to enjoy life; and his love for the city, which he has promised to promote wherever he goes.
