Google rough translation:
The American dream has struck for Dolph Lundgren, 56. But he tickled by leaving action for Swedish history. Now he writes at war drama "Nordic light".
- It is 1917 in the Swedish archipelago. It's an exciting time. Romance in a brutal way. Beautiful dresses, big hats, but they're talking and not in Latin. I want the European actors and distribute the film out into the world, says Dolph Lundgren.
He will be self directing. There he held the binoculars long, and the historical theme is close Dolph Lundgren's heart.
- I get nostalgic of getting older. It's fun with a link back and I'm very interested in Swedish history. It is adventurous and natural action, he says.

This one interests more than any Dolph project in a long time. To put that in perspective, my anticipation for Day of Reckoning and Skin Trade had hit a fever pitch.

If it turns out good Dolph would get more respect from his country.

I guess we'll have to wait til the end of the summer to get some update about this one (post production of ST and publicity tour for The Exp 3).

It's in the "under the surface" stage of development, trying to get it off the ground, polishing the script and waiting for the right stars to align for things actually happen for real (like SKION TRADE for 4-5 years, so you gotta be impatient only hopefully in this case it won't take that long and that many wrong deals for it to get made)...

If Skin Trade does well I'm sure that would help this get off the ground faster.

Yeah, but as far as I know it's not a done deal for it to happen this year yet.

Still got 10 months to go

Is there different project that Dolph wants as his next "Skin Trade" or is this it?

Well don't take this for granted, it could have been shot last summer according to Cannes 2013 plans... It depends on how things go financing, logistic and schedule wise. As for SKIN TRADE, he'll probably wait to have the right conditions to make it rather than taking cheaper opportunities/offers to make it. But this is main focus as far his own projects go.

This is even more important and personal to him than SKIN TRADE I think, and that's why he dropped out of directing ST to learn more of the ropes of producing in order and both produce and direct NORDIC LIGHT.

I am also trying to direct a spy-thriller that’s set in the First World War, I’ve had it for 10 years and it’s finally getting some traction. It’s something I want to do because I’ve never made a film in Sweden before.

Is Dolph slated to play the lead or will he take a supporting role so he can concentrate on his directing duties?

Dolph Lundgren Planning Directorial Debut With World War One Movie

Dolph Lundgren Is Hoping To Pay Tribute To The Heroes Of World War One In His Directorial Debut.

The Expendables star's father was an officer and Lundgren served in the military and now he's planning a major new movie about the Great War.

Lundgren tells WENN, "It took me a while to direct, almost 25 years to figure it out. But I've got a historical movie and it's set in World War One that I'll direct because I like history. I think it comes somewhere from when I was a kid."

And the movie star has been preparing to make his own war movie by starring in one set in World War Two, opposite Mickey Rourke.

He adds, "I did War Pigs last year with Mickey Rourke and it was pretty cool. I played a French legionnaire attached to the U.S. Infantry unit to teach the G.I.s how to fight the Germans, because we're going after this special artillery piece that they built.

"It takes place in 1944 on the Alsace Lorraine region, right between Germany and France - so I'm right in my own country in the movie, which was nice. It's not a big a movie but it has a lot of heart."

And Lundgren reveals he'd like to make a movie that calls on his degree in engineering: "I was actually offered to direct a documentary on engineering big dams but it didn't work out. That would be kind of fun. Eventually my degree will come in handy somehow."
