‘Creed’ Spinoff Film ‘Drago’ Set for MGM With Robert Lawton to Write (Exclusive)https://www.thewrap.com/creed-drago-spi ... on-writer/Screenwriter Robert Lawton is set to write the “Creed” spinoff “Drago” for MGM, multiple insiders with knowledge of the project exclusively tell TheWrap.
Although plot details are being kept under wraps, “Drago” centers on Russian fighter Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren), who first appeared as the antagonist in 1985’s “Rocky IV,” and his son Viktor Drago (Florian Munteanu) who was last seen as the antagonist in 2018’s “Creed 2.”
Lawton’s spec script “Becoming Rocky” about the making of the first “Rocky” film, was one of 50 scripts that won a 2021 Nicholl Fellowship. MGM execs were impressed by the spec and the “Drago” take that Lawton came up with, giving him the job.

Looks like Amazon gonna squeeze as much juice out of MGM's properties as it can. Hopefully they can craft a story with as much heart as the characters showed in CREED 2.

I hope they'll use that deleted locker room scene from creed 2. I loved that scense.

Just read about this in Variety where they also wrote that Florian (Viktor Drago) is set to appear in Creed 3.
Had not heard that before…
This, if it happens, will probably become some sort of prequel right?
Because where do you go from here with an elderly Ivan Drago?
Maybe if the focus and build on the father son dynamic from Creed 2… ?
In any case a real testament to how iconic the character of Drago is.

It might focus on Drago Jr.'s character while Drago Sr. is a supporting character kind of Rocky in CREED I & II

I don't have any inside intel on this but I don't think Dolph has signed for anything yet, especially if they don't have a production script...

Well... I wouldn't hardly bet on it.
Sly is not that happy about it. So even if the film gets made, Dolph's involvment is not a sure thing for me (I don't think he would have done Creed II without Sly). (

Another Heartbreaker… Just found this out…ONCE AGAIN , this PATHETIC 94 year old PRODUCER and HIS MORONIC USELESS VULTURE CHILDREN, Charles And David , are once again picking clean THE BONES of another wonderful character I created without even telling me … I APOLOGIZE to the FANS , I never wanted ROCKY characters to be exploited by these parasites… By the way, I have nothing but respect for my true friend , Dolph Lundgren.

I think it's not fair what Sly is doing to Dolph now! I get his anger towards Winkler, but this is very unprofessional!.

I'm much more apt to believe what Dolph wrote. He would not be a part of this without Sly's blessing. Sly is looking like a fool for airing all this out in public.

Well, I hope this will settle down. Strange moves from Sly, I thought he would have been less hot-headed.
I wouldn't mind not having a Drago spin off though.

In the end they'll have to have Sly as a producer and a comeo appearience. But If I was Sly I would be just glad for my friend Dolph and whishing him good luck with the project.
