ALIEN AGENT (R. Christian /S. Furie, 2001-2003) (without DL)

Hi, found this small bit of news in the UK horror magazine Shivers. I think the person who wrote this must have gotten it from the recent AFM market as most of his news article was about AFM.

"In Sidney Furie's Alien Agent Dolph Lundgren stars as a lawman from another galaxy who must stop an invading force from building a gateway between the two worlds..."

Was this a recent magazine? If so it may mean Alien Agent could be back on!

Sometimes film markets film info is not updated, and I know Alien Agent is supposed to be produced in 2005, but Dolph is definitely not attached to it anymore, and I'm not sure if Mark Dacascos is still either... Fries Film Group seems like a quite lousy production co. anyway...

Did anyone check moviehole.net? They'd be the place to check about this sort of thing.

For those who wonder what happened to the project, after being in the hands of Mark Dacascos, Christophe Lambert is attached to star in the film, according to the latest American Film Market listing from Fries Film Group.

Doubt they ever make it, but you never know in this business, things can be slow, the first screenplay for "Sin City" was written in 1993.

Alien Agent back on!

It seems Mark Dacascos might actually be doing Alien Agent. Apprently it starts filming in june in Vancouver, produced by Kirk Shaw, and directed by Jesse Johnson who's gained somethign of a cult following amongst martial arts fans following Pit Fighter. It actually sounds good, with Dacascos surely whipping out the Martial arts again. I hope this happens.

The Dacascos fans got the heads up and I e-mailed the director who confirmed it. I asked him if there was any chance of a Dolph cameo but sadly no.

Promo reel:

seems to be pretty faithful to the original screenplay (that I have read), except for the costumes and some of the sets... it's a shame they shot it mostly with daylight, and that Dacascos and Billy Zane are just dressed with everyday clothes because apart the fact that it's more realistic and cheaper it doesn't make them anything alien or sci-fi-like...

I spoke to the director Jesse Johnson, who did the pretty decent PitFighter, and he said he was pretty much a gun for hire on AA. Apparently he had to tone down the violence and length of the end fight between Dacascos and Vandenberg (Pitfighter) at the producers behest. I think he's probably prouder of his indie actioner The Last Sentinal which looks like a career best for Don Wilson. AA is gonna premiere on the Sci-fi channel as well, so it will be pretty cheap. Should still be worth a watch though, see Dacasco unleash some asskickings again.
