Thanks God MOTU wasn't made.I do not have anything against Albert but when it comes to post production all his movies were messed up. Obviously he is not very good in editing process.
Many stated Pyun as Kurosava pupil but in commercial US filmmaking this doesn't work. Cyborg 1989 Van Damme movie was rightly re-edited by Van Damme , Sheldon and co and thanks that they did a re-shot for the final fight with Klyn and extra barn scene ( as in case of Unisol) because it needed to be a much longer fight seq. Watching Cyborg workprint (so called Albert Pyun DC) the movie is kind of incoherent in some part ( too early cut), music to much loud rock but i still would incorporate some stuff in Cyborg Theatrical Cut released version. For example some Van Damme, Klyn dialogue as internal voice like in DC because I always felt this movie has too little dialogue - voice off screen could help a little bit example Klyn saying u tried to escape Strat at the beginning - in DC was fine, Van Damme dialogue when he pass wasteland etc. The ideal Cyborg should be around 92-93 minutes with all good stuff from both cuts (because 86 minutes Theatrical is kind of short and rushed in some parts). Cinematography is really good. Cyborg is aka Mad Max of Cannon in some way. Once Albert said he was asked to direct Double Impact (1991) again with JC. Thanks Sheldon took the control because nobody could know what it could turn out. Another cyberpank maybe.
After I saw Captain America 199o made by Pyun imagine how MOTU 2 will look like as sci fi especially during action seq. superpowerful elements of characters, logistics and stuff . Especially with 4 million what can u do for visual effects, even worse than Cannon Superman 4 that totally killed Superman franchise in late '80s
