Ahaha, I've just read that sentence again, I didn't mean to compare the two...

Donkey Punch (2008)
Director Oliver Blackburn
Thought that this little film was really good, indeed it took some time before it took off properly but I liked it.
For some reason I had got to the impression that this would be a slasher film ....
Seven apples out of ten possible

Time Bomb (1991)
Director Avi Nesher
Really good, tough and entertaining action film with Michael Biehn and Patsy Kensit. Avi Nesher has a sharp, distinctive directed with style and a feel for technology and for details.
Eight apples out of ten possible

Pumpkin Head (1988)
Director Stan Winston
Ok entertainment for the moment with a great looking monster!
Six apples out of ten possible

Voyna aka War (2002)
Director Aleksei Balabanov
After being captured by Chechen rebels a British actor is released from captivity just so he can raise the ransom demanded for his fiancee.
But bureaucracy, government policies and indifferent bureaucrats sabotage his efforts and the clock is ticking, he travels back to Russia, seeking a cynical soldier (from Siberia), which he was originally detained with and talking to him to return to enemy territory for an armed rescue missions.
This is a really good and stable Russian action roller which played mainly in Chechnya
This is a violent film with more brutal scenes (eg halsavhuggningar for internet, graphic violence, etc.). The actionsequences are really good.
Worth noting is that the film is significantly patriotic and I would say that it is racist when it clearly has an anti-Muslim and anti-Chechen budslap.
Nine out of ten apples possible.

Yep. GRAN TORINO was terrific. Best thing Eastwood has done in a while. Both hilarious and touching.

I saw BABYLON A.D. a few days ago. Stay away. Vin better hope the new FAST AND FURIOUS is a hit, otherwise he's in trouble.

Moltisanti, I've watched Babylon A.D. yesterday. Agree: Stay away. It's just dull. Diesel was so hot in Pitch Black and then.... only crap. In Babylon A.D. he's looking concerned/caring all the time and wanders around. *yawn* (4/10) I'd rather watch Serenity three times more. Or The Blade Runner ten times more.

Black Rain
One of my favorite Ridley Scott movies ever. Has a great score by Hans Zimmer and excellent action w/ good ol' Michael Douglas. "F*ck you very much!"

That's another "why don't they make films like these anymore"?!

And on a footnote, the scores by composers such as Hans Zimmer were much more original and creative sound-wise in those days than the conventional Hollywood soup they serve nowadays IMHO.

The Strangers (2008)
Director: Bryan Bertino
Pass entertainment at the moment but the French film Them (2006) is much more effective.
Six apples out of ten possible

Tropa de Elite (2007)
Director: José Padilha
The film represented my high expectations, can be seen together with God's City (2002).
10 apples out 10. Recommended!

L.A. Story (1991)
Director: Mick Jackson
One of my favorites and one of Steve Martin best films. I love this movie!
Ten apples out of ten possible! Recommended!

The Mist (2007)
Director: Frank Darabont
Great horror movie. Ten apples out of ten possible! Recommended!

The Art of War II: Betrayal (2008)
Director: Josef Rusnak
Wesley Snipes is back as agent Neil Shaw, my little hopes of this film were crushed almost immediately. The first movie was good but this DTV roll suffer from its poor budget. Will do just as entertainment for the moment.
Four apples out of ten possible.

Midnight Movie (2008)
Director: Jack Messitt
Helt ok supernatural Slasher including takes its inspiration from the Last Action Hero.
Seven apples out of ten possible

5ive Girls (2006)
Director: Warren P. Sonoda
The basic idea is good but the film suffers, unfortunately, of its low budget. But, but, cute girls in catholic schooluniforms is never wrong ...
Six out of ten apples possible.

Prom Night (2008)
Director: Nelson McCormick
This film is clearly not as bad as rumor says. I believe that this remake is better than Prom Night (1980).

Here's a film I bet MOST of you never even heard of:

I watched Universal Soldier last night. It gets better everytime I see it.

I planned on watching Heavy Metal (1981), but I forgot after I listened to Body Count from UniSol's end credits and decided to log on to the net.

I caught the end of Stealing Beauty too.
RIP Charles "Mask" Lewis! TapouT will never be the same.

I watched The Minion and The Final Inquiry within the last few days. I hadn't seen The Minion for maybe a few years, and saw The Inquiry for the first time, and enjoyed them both.

I have a few new DVDs to watch, including The Bostonians, Summer Of Sam, The Darjeeling Limited, and Philadelphia, none of which I've seen before!

Hold it, hold it...

Philadelphia with Tom Hanks a Denzel Washington?

If you've never seen that movie, watch it at once!

It is a really good movie. Great acting by everybody involved!

Plus, Antonio Banderas is in it --- and he was so cute!
