Monsieur lazhar & le Vendeur : two french canadians movie, really strong, well made, interesting and with amazing actors

A chinese ghost story : weel written, funny and interesting. Some stuff aged a little bit, but it's fressh and original.

Fearless :tremendous fights, a top notch Jet Li. Quite good.

Black mask : saw a zillion times when i was a kid, and I didn't remember it was ... well : cheessy, gore and "bis" as we say in France. The action was nice (but wa over the top) and Jet Li is not relaly confortable in his part.

Irina Palm : a really touching (uh) movie, Faithful is amazing, and the story is great, with interesting charactes (miki is really moving).

Blind Fury : aaahhh ... what the 80's/90's had best and worst to offer : a charismatic and interesting main character played by a great actor (here Rutger Hauer), godd choreography made by clumsy muscular henchmen, some really good music, in opposite with cheessy "bontanpi" and a kid as a sidekick. The movie offer good, bad and everything in between, but the honesty of everyone involved is a goodpoint. And there is Sho kosugi. Then any other arguement is invalid.

queens of langkasuka : thai fantasy made by Nonzee Nimibutr, the guy that gave a new energy to the thai cinema in 1999 with Nang Nak. it's different, fresh, but somewhat too much complex (too many characters, legends and subplots).

Hah, I remember Blind Fury. ;-) Used to be a big Rutger Hauer fan, mainly because The Blade Runner is my favorite movie and Rutger was also great in... uh... what's that title again where he plays that misterious highway killer...

Anyway. I watched Valhalla Rising yesterday. A very different movie and I enjoyed it a lot. Not much dialogue, very slow camera (YAY!), very intensive music that was important for the overall feeling of the movie. Some gross scenes but mainly calm and stoic. Highly recommendable if you don't require non-stop action.

Great movie from the director of DRIVE, imagine Dolph in one of his films, this one notably would have been perfect for him! Also shows he could do a sort of viking or middle-ages period piece with a small budget and good locations.

I liked Vallhalla Rising better than Drive to be honest. Similar in tone, but I really enjoyed Vahalla Rising. It's a little "artsy fartsy", but has enough emotionally detached, Scandinavian violence and menace to be gripping the whole time.
Spring, era jävlar!

Videodrome (1983) - didn't get it, although I am a Cronenberg fan. Coming up: Dead Ringers. Any advance warnings? ;)
