The Defender! That is as awesome as I ever heard it!

The Defender is surely one my favorites. His directing of that movie is FANTASTIC! Before I checked out the details of it when I first seen it, I knew it had been in theaters. I was shocked when I realized it wasn't after I checked it out on the IMDb.

Everything it so twisted. The cool, good looking movies with good action, good acting, and good twists don't go to theaters; the mediocre movies with minimal acting, minimal action do? HUH?! :?: :?: :?:

Apparently the German DEFENDER Blu-Ray looks pretty good:

Yeah I'm intrigued by this feature too but I haven't upgrade to Blu-Ray yet (which I would get mostly for Dolph flicks at first since I don't have a huge TV screen and am fine with good "old" DVDs).

I think UNIVERSAL SOLDIER will come out in Blu-Ray in Europe in the fall.

First Look will release DIRECT ACTION on Blu-Ray November 3rd with COMMAND PERFORMANCE

Kinowelt will release CP in Germany in the spring 2010.

To be honest I'm not interested in buying any of his recent movies on BR. Well, I don't have a BR player yet. But when I get one I'll wait for his Top 5 or Top 10 and buy those (SiLT, MoW, UniSol, Joshua Tree...).

I don't have Blu-Ray either and not really sure when I will convert. I have way too many movies already on DVD to consider it. I have a nice HDTV, however not 1080p and I think that the DVD player I have does a good job with scaling when I choose to watch turn on the upconversion. I may rent some of these and see if my neighbor will let me watch them on his Blu-Ray player (Playstation 3).

I recently got a Blu-ray player and while the picture is terrific, it's not that dramatic an upgrade from standard DVD. Certainly not as dramatic as going from VHS to DVD.

I'm definitely looking forward to grabbing COMMAND on Blu-ray, and down the road THE EXPENDABLES as well. But I'm not planning to double-dip on movies that have pretty good standard discs out there like UNIVERSAL SOLDIER or MEN OF WAR (no extras on that one, but it looks great).

Now if they put out movies like SHOWDOWN or ARMY OF ONE on Blu-ray I'd probably get those just because the standard DVDs are so poor.

Hm, depends on the screen size. With a projector at about 3m/10feet you clearly see the difference. ;)

I haven't upgraded to Blu-ray either yet.

For now the CP Blu-ray ranked ahead of the DVD on Amazon, I wouldn't be surprised if it sells more.

It seems DNC Entertainment will release THE MECHANIK on Blu-ray in the UK September 21st, same as UNIVERSAL SOLDIER (Optimum Home Entertainment).
But they better make it widescreen because their DVD was 4/3...

So UNIVERSAL SOLDIER will also come out in France on September 22, not sure this is the final cover but it was the theatrical poster:
