That's Cannon we're talking about, the SUPERMAN V one wasn't better
When you think of lazy artworks now, or what Nu Image and the likes are doing, Cannon was doing this 20 years ago! (and Nu Image executives Avi Lerner, Boaz Davidson, Danny Dimbort, John Thompson, they all worked at Cannon at some point)

MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE seems to have finally joined the ranks among celebrated cult classics of the 80's, it has been screened a couple of times this past year in the US and will be shown in LOS ANGELES on July 10th at Midnight at the Regency Fairfax theater!

That is awesome. Might have to check this out since I missed the Dolph Festival earlier.

Would there really be a Planet Hollywood hotel room themed around MOTU??!!

My room at Planet Hollywood is themed around Dolph Lundgren’s 1987 clunker “Masters of the Universe.”

Meant to post this a few weeks ago, but my quick wrap up on the Regency Fairfax Insomniac Cinema presents Masters of the Universe:
In 1987, I saw my first movie in theaters. Twenty-two years later, I would see the same movie in theaters to kick off my birthday weekend. Masters of the Universe!
The theater was a few blocks down the same street from the New Beverly in Los Angeles, where the I Must Break You Festival was held. Pretty good turnout, the guy who schedules the Insomniac Cinema was really surprised, he said the last few shows have had ZERO turnout. Two guys came from Nebraska just for the screening apparently! They played a red band trailer for the 80's adult animated flick Heavy Metal and then the glorious Cannon Films logo came up! Dolph's credit got a big cheer, as did Frank Langella's. When Dolph turns to face the audience for the first time the place went nuts. There were a lot of laughs throughout, at the movie, the acting, costumes and hair especially. His stoic Dolph accent got more than a few laughs and imitation and his crushing physique got more than a few aah's from the audience. Afterward, even though it was two AM and I'd seen the movie dozens of times, seeing Masters on the big screen was just as magical as it had been when I was five years old.

Wow, that sounds like a real fun night! Wish they did something like that over here. I'd prefer UniSol or SiLT though. But maybe those don't create the "cult atmosphere" you get with the cheesy MOTU. ;-)

Interesting that you saw MOTU when you were five. My first movies at the cinema were the Sunday morning fairy tale matinees like Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs or Cinderella. Not the Disney versions but the lovely Czech or German films.

Awesome viendammage, I've been dreaming of watching MOTU on the big screen again for 20 years!

I'm sure nowadays you'd get an insane cult atmosphere showing SILT or US to a bunch of rabid DL, Brandon Lee and JCVD fans!

My first movies were probably the Disney ones (Snow White or Bambi) but it was MOTU that opened my eyes and led me to become the movie buff and Dolph fan that I am!
