You know it's going to be weird after all this time to hear Sylvester Stallone and Big D actually talk to one another in a movie. After all, despite being the two leads in Rocky IV they didn't have so much as a conversation, now they're going to talk, fight, talk some more and have another fight! It's also nice to think that Big D has always been so full of praise for Stallone, and now they're working together.

But we have to wait another 11 months - argh!

Great to see them on set together. Weird to think it was 25 years ago that they were filming ROCKY IV. It's a good kind of weird though.

The billboards for Sylvester Stallone’s The Expendables may or may not be on display at the Cannes Film Festival, but the promo artwork appears to be official. Lionsgate has sent us over high resolution copies of the promo poster and billboard advertising for the film.

I'd say Gunnar Jensen is either a Swedish or Danish name - perhaps Dolphage can be more definitive? Though Wikipedia's page on TE says he is meant to be German!

You couldn´t be more right. It´s a complete mix. Gunnar is far more common in Sweden and Jensen is far more common in Denmark. There ARE Gunnars in Denmark and Jensens in Sweden but not to a great extent.

Allthough Gunnar is even more common in Iceland. So who knows. He´s from the north SOMEWHERE, I guess.

That's just based on some guy's notes on the script he read but the German thing was pure speculation on his part.

Gunnar was a popular name for kids in the 70s in Germany, too (like Sven, Björn, Nils and many more still are), and Jensen can also be found in our phone books. But if they really wanted the character to be German they would pick something obvious from around the war like Hans Gruber. ;) So I guess he's meant to be Scandinavian.

I'm wondering if Big D will be able to do a convincing Swedish accent ;)

I´m not sure the Swedish accent lends itself to tough guy characters all that well... In MOW he just did his American accent, except for when actually SPEAKING Swedish, and it worked out. I´m hoping he goes for the same thing now.

Yeah and since he speaks such a flawless English it might be weird for him to pull off the Swedish accent while delivering lines English (I know couldn't do the French accent in English except for comedic purposes)

Funny, Charles Bronson's parents were Scandanavian. I doubt that's what Dolph's character will be since it's such an unusual nationality for a movie character. As long as this film is awesome, tho, I don't really care what nationality they're names are. Just as long as they kick some dictator ass.

What? Wikipedia has them listed as Lithuanian, which, by the look of him seems more plausible.
