Scandinavian is not a nationality

Well there is many possibilities, norwegian, swedish, Finish, lithuanian, latvian, danish, icelandic, but i hope this time he is not Russian, i don't think Sly would not want him to play the russian character again.

I´m not sure the Swedish accent lends itself to tough guy characters all that well... In MOW he just did his American accent, except for when actually SPEAKING Swedish, and it worked out. I´m hoping he goes for the same thing now.

To most native speakers, Swedes usually sound slightly American - presumably because of all the US TV and movies you have to watch. Just so long as he avoids the Swedish Chef stereotype of what non-Swedes think all Swedes should sound like....

...though that has possibilities ;)

Hehe, you're not thinking of that Scandinavian Chef of the Muppet Show, are you? Somehow he never came into my mind when thinking of Dolph...

That's the one - though in Britain they made sure he was called the Swedish Chef ;)

Oh my God, you´re right! Quick someone send him a note reminding him not to base his performance in The Expendables on that of a muppet! This could jeopardize the entire movie!

Note: That was all sarcasm (thusly the "winking smiley").

I think, sadly, that the Swedish Chef is one of the most famous Swedes in the world. Is he really the "Scandinavian Chef" in Germany?

No, actually, it was such a long time ago that I have watched the Muppet Show that I don't recall if he even had a name. Just checked youtube and wasn't able to find a German clip with the guy. So: no idea!

Clearly this is the most pressing question of our times, so here's Wikipedia's take on it:

'In Germany the Swedish Chef is Danish and his song is "Smørrebrød, Smørrebrød røm, pøm, pøm, pøm". However, in Sweden he is still Swedish.'

Latest from the Expendables Twitter feed...

'last night jason recited poetry while doing a crazy knife stunt & Sly Jason Jet Terry Dolph Randy & Mickey riding choppers-ducati 4 jason'

(Damn I was hoping Big-D would get that beautiful Ducati).

and:

'@faz4980 we finish shooting around the end of June'

(So it's a long shoot, and a long time in editing before that April 2010 launch)

I finally got my reward…Mickey Rourke, Jason, Sly, Jet, Randy, Dolph, Terry

we finished week 1 of a 7 week shoot here in NOLA and I gotta tell ya it was a freakin amazing week. Seriously I know I’m a publicist but I am also a lucky fan who scored the perfect job…Friday night/Saturday morning I was standing in the middle of South Peters Street at 5:30am watching Sly Jason Mickey Dolph and the guys roar out of Tool’s garage on indescribable choppers (Jason rode a Ducati) that were loud…seriously loud…like vrrrooom vvrrrooooom LOUD so apologies to the neighborhood – but it was do damn exciting. Total bummer we only had Mick for 2 days – he had to get back to Iron Man 2…but he and his character brought a vibe to the set that was just the element needed to bond the whole cast together. Seeing the expendables sitiing around Tools tattoo parlor plotting, planning and just being guys kind of blew me away…the p’araazi finally revealed hemselves on Friday on rooftop and hanging out of windows and we had lots of fans who definitely saw some action. Today we are at Fort McComb…not sure where exactly that is even though I drove here but it is beautiful and quite peaceful out hre. Just the place for a torture scene…

I know you are anxious to hear who’s playing Church and I am anxious to reveal it but the deal is still not sealed…you’ve been very patient!

Oh. My. God.

He says that

a) the film is very violent

b) most of his fights are with Jet Li.

Oh. My. GAWD!

That means that we'll see kick ass hand-to-hand (or rather knee-to-chin) fights and it will be dirty! I CAN'T WAIT!!!! AAAAAAAAHHHHHHH....

How am I supposed to wait several months?

PS: Is there a reader who is good with graphics and can replace "Jason Statham" with "Dolph Lundgren" on the high-res version of that billboard? It would make a great wallpaper.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

;)

Don't forget it's likely he'll also be fighting with Sylvester Stallone! And there's that intriguing hint that the end is something really cool...

The only way you're going to last until next April is to pace yourself with 'Command Performance', 'Universal Soldier 3' and 'Icarus'. Now it looks like two of those are going to be cracking movies and we can console ourselves that US3 would be better with more Big-D.

To get in the real Expendables mood I should watch MoW and Predator alternating every day... looking forward to Icarus and CP but I suspect they won't come even close to The Expendables or these two golden oldies.

Can't compare THE EXPENDABLES to CP or ICARUS (plus it's only a supporting role). From what I gather D has wrapped a few scenes last week and will be back on set in June for the bigger/action stuff...
