Happily I can report in good concience that this flick is actually a good time. Lundgren directs as well as stars and the man does not skimp on the blood. People are shot and blood sprays. They’re stabbed and blood sprays. They’re punched and blood sprays… Lundgren looks convincing in his drum playing but even moreso when he’s jabbing a drumstick through a guy’s skull. It’s a fun little action film, and his best movie in years.

Damn, there are some good reviews for this.. :o I'm glad people are taking it the right way, as a not too serious, fun action movie. Hope all the hype and promo from Dolph will do it good in rentals...fingers crossed.

You forgot the important bit...

...do it good in rentals outside the UK.

What did we say? Did we upset someone? Was it the oh-so-ironic sense of humour? Our even more laughable transport? Was it the food? The weather?

Come on rest of the World, remember our little fog-bound rock marooned somewhere off the left-hand side of Europe. We're still here.

Dolph Lundgren Filmed 'Command Performance' In Bulgaria, Despite Russian Inspiration

by Brian Warmoth

Dolph Lundgren may have been inspired to write his new direct-to-DVD film, "Command Performace," by events in Moscow, but he had to move the production down to Bulgaria, given its modern terrorism subject matter. The veteran action hero, who directed, stars and co-wrote (with Steve Latshaw) the movie, couldn't find a way to film it all in Russia, but he still wants to release it in the country where it all began.

"I got the idea from a concert that Madonna gave for [former] Russian President Vladimir Putin," Lundgren told MTV News. Like the pop star in "Command Performance," Madonna gave an exclusive concert in 2006 for Putin and his daughters.

In the film, however, Lundgren plays a drummer in the band who must take on a group of terrorists who invade the event and turn it into a hostage situation, taking the Premier and singer at gunpoint. Such a story proved much easier to complete in Bulgaria.

"They're very sensitive," Lundgren said, elaborating on the hurdles to completing the film in Russia. "There's a lot of red tape."

He remains confident, however, that following the U.S. release this week, Russia will find its way onto the calendar too.

"We're working on it," he assured.

Yep, it'll do well in rentals outside the UK - everyone else is getting this disc apart from us.

I remember the Brits doing quite some noise for MISSIONARY MAN, finally they (not you guys of course) acknowledged the power of the D man and celebrated it; I hope they will do the same for COMMAND, which is a flick made for you guys, Prince Charles and the Queen!

;)

I hear Her Maj is a big fan of spatterflicks and likes to re-enact classic scenes from 'Die Hard' around Buckingham Palace whenever she entertains World leaders.

I think I would have loved this movie if Dolph made it 20 years ago. He was just way too old for this role.

Also, it was weird seeing Dolph as a pothead. He even wore a necklace with a marijuana leaf on it throughout the whole movie.

Melissa Smith was pretty good in it though.

I think Icarus will be better or at least more age appropriate.

Yeah, but these days rock stars linger on in the business until they're in their.. sixties (like the Stones), so Dolph's character makes sense in a "Tommy Lee" - sorta way.

I do kinda agree with Travis about the age thing, his role in Icarus is obviously more suited to his age, but it was interesting seeing him play a rock star and he looks great in the promo-shoot pics. I think even in the mid-90's it would have been kinda weird seeing him play a rock star. I think he's a much cooler guy now than he was then and is certainly more "with it" and "up to date" in terms of he knows what's cool and what's not, so I think I'd rather have CP now than 10 years ago, but hey as Dolphage says, there are a lot of older rockers out there and it's just a bit of fun afterall.
