"We were talking the other day in L.A. and I said to him, 'Look Sly, people are excited about this movie, a lot of people who wouldn't talk to me a month ago would say, 'Hey Dolph, I'm really excited about your movie, congratulations,' " Lundgren says from a rooftop patio during a promotional stop in Toronto.
"And he's like, 'Yeah, I remember. I was the fourth lead in "Spy Kids 3" opening in Austin.' He said, '(I thought) that's the end, it's over.' "
"You have to create your own destiny to some extent," says Lundgren, who's also turned to directing in recent years.
"But I think in this case it was the right time because now we've gone through the whole cycle where even the people who said, 'Oh, that guy is a loser, he's gotten old,' (are now saying) 'Yeah, it's kind of cool, he's still around. Yeah, I want to see him on film again.' So that's where we are now, I guess."
