I'd recommend the Japanese Blu-ray edition, which include extras AND the extended Japanese cut

Then try the French Blu-ray from Seven Sept, I haven't seen it but they care about quality and their editions are usually the best image and sound wise. (note though that this film was shot on Super 16mm and will always have a particular aspect and grain anyway)

Not about region coding but what's certain is that the US Blu-ray does NOT have any extras despite what the cover says and except the red band and green band trailers.

Bit of info on the UK BD of Mechanik, it's not 100% but it seems a less risky buy at that price and with a semi confirmation it's not 4:3 like the DVD

For the German fans: I just picked up Icarus (aka The Killing Machine) for just 4,99€ at Saturn. Pretty cool price for a new film on Bluray. Didn't watch it so far, the cover says it has a Making of, Trailer Show and a Gallery. German 5.1 sound and English 2.0.

If it's like the German DVD it's the incorrect aspect ratio (1.78 instead of 2.35 scope) though :(
