DETENTION (Sidney J. Furie, 2003)

Postby DolphLundgrenArtist on 12 Jan 2004, 21:57

I was talking with a girl that worked at Block buster two days ago..and said Dolph has a new movie coming into stock. It's something called 'The Detention' or something. Anyone hear of this? :!:

It is available for rent here in Germany since September or so but I haven't seen it so far. Some have and opinions vary from bad to decent, but everybody agrees that you see the low budget and it lacks action scenes. *sigh*

PS: DLA, your signature is cute. ;-)

As long as it has Dolph's beautiful face, I'll find it a ten star flick. :D This is one I have to add to my collection. And Thanks....I like my signature too!

Could you translate for the lowly people who cannot read German?!! I should have taken German in college considering my ancestors are from there!

I really hope I like Detention. It sounds fair and I think I will, I just hope they don't charge an arm and a leg to buy it at the stores!

Shame on Dolph

Postby Travis on 14 Jan 2004, 21:49

Just saw Detention last night. I can't say anything good about this film. It was awful. Movies like this make me want to quit being a fan of Dolph. The making-of-feature is a joke.

Also, Dolph looks old, tired, and skinny. He needs some time in the wieght room. He also needs to work with more talented people. How can a man so smart make such stupid movies?

I'm very sorry to read that, Travis.

Well, he obviously does it for the money. And the old article re-posted by Punisher says that he is much into aerobic sports and picked up the static ones only for Rocky IV. So I guess he is back to his old kinds of sports and no more weight lifting. Pity...

So...

Postby Lance on 15 Jan 2004, 02:28

Is it his worst movie ever? Or is it just one of his worst? Lundgren's one before Detention was actually pretty decent, Hidden Agenda I think.

When compared to The Last Warrior and Agent Red how does Detention compare...It's gotta be better then Van Damme's awful Derailed.

Yeah it's better than Agent Red and Derailed, but certainly not as good as Hidden Agenda. Just an average "shoot out in high school" movie...

Actually, it seems Dolph has been working out. Check out some of the pictures on his website. I am fairly certain that some of the posed pictures are very recent. He also has mentioned recently that his wife hated his diet during his training. I think that was for a possible Rocky 6 but thats up in the air now...
