Dolphage is a voice over artist!

Postby dolphage on 16 Jul 2012, 13:34

Since making Dolph fan trailers was really how people noticed me doing voice overs I'd like to credit the forum for my transition. I never really saw being a voiceover artist as an option until people heard me say "Dolph fucking Lundgren is BACK!" in my nerdy Youtube videos! Haha!

I am a full time voice over artist now, since June -12. I quit my old job.

We'll see how it goes... If I'm broke and looking for work in a couple of months I'll let you know!

Here's my homepage if you're interested:

(sorry, page down, no more voice overing for me...)

10 points to the person who recognizes which DL movie trailer I snuck into my demo reel...

Wow, bonus points for the Predator score!

I do all sorts of things, even though I am just getting started; I have recorded voice overs in English, Swedish, Spanish and German. That's right German friends; IN GERMAN! I got away with it even though my German is terrible, the producer was happy.

Mostly, I'm described as "deep voiced and believable" with an American accent, but sometimes they want you to do different voices and dialects and I try my best.

Wow, that's indeed extremely cool! I'm working on that, too. ;-) I've recorded my first audio book (a short story) a few weeks ago... in German. I'll stick to my native tongue unless there's an English story that calls for a German reader. My English is pretty good but there is a clear accent and I think that has no business in audio books. ;-) I'll record a second take asap and then I'll let you guys know.

Haven't checked out your site yet, dolphage, but I'll do shortly. Very nice, congrats indeed! And I'm happy to read that our little community has helped you to take on your new career. Remember that once you have to decide which one in that crazy croud you'll give your autographs on your celebrity tour next year!

Haha, I'm not delusional I will never be one of the top 5 names that make the real money, I see it more as a way to fullfill my lifelong dream of working out of my bedroom!

Are you freelancing Mosquito or are you with an agancy/web site?

Oh my, for now I'm just a hobbyist recording something in my basement and putting it online for the community to rate and (hopefully) enjoy.

Jox asked me to let people know what I have been up to in a thread, so here goes.

I am using my FB page as a homepage now. Here it is:

https://www.facebook.com/jamesphilipartist

It's a combo page of a lot of the creative things I do. But mainly it's the voice over page. Here's the old English voice over demo:

And for the people doubting my credentials as a native Swede; here's my Swedish voice over demo reel:

The best and most precious wealth: it may sound cheesy but I can attest from my experience and observation that it's so true.

Loved the Swedish demo buddy!
