I hear you. I don't think it's that good to have this comeback, because he has too many options and offers (and not always good), and he seems kinda confused, he'll say something one day, and will do another the next. As a man he's probably searching for himself again (having divorced and all, settling in LA, new girlfriend) but it doesn't help him with making decisions...

I think Dolph is essentially trying to "strike while the iron's hot," so to say in lieue of this comeback... This is fine and all, but come on, he HAS to know that these projects are beneath him. Like you, I'm wondering if the comeback was the best thing for him. I know he's got bills to pay, but between ITNOK2, BATTLE OF THE DAMNED, TOMB OF THE DRAGON, and now this, it's weird...

Let's wait and see. The trailer is funny and promising at least. If the show is as full of irony as the trailer it might be a fun ride.

There hasn't been a trailer or anything for "Rescue 3" yet, just the annoucement. Aren't you confusing with the "Race to the Scene" teaser trailer?

According to this August article (before DL was announced) in Hollywood Reporter, the first season 22 episodes shall have nearly $55 million of budget which makes about $2,5 million per episode.

Emmett/Furla Films Launches TV Arm With 'Rescue 3'

The nearly $55 million cost of the first 22 episodes of the drama about L.A. firemen, lifeguards and the Coast Guard is being financed by the production company -- although there is no upfront distribution commitment set up.

Emmett/Furla Films is launching a television production division with a full season order of Rescue 3, a one-hour action-adventure drama which does not yet have any distribution.

Rescue 3 is being created by Gregory J. Bonann and Tai Collins of Tower 18 Productions, and written with Jim and John Thomas (Predator, Wild Wild West). Bonann, a 43-year veteran of the Los Angeles County Firefighter & Lifeguard departments, who will serve as executive producer, produced and/or directed more than 300 episodes of Baywatch.

"Randall Emmett and George Furla, have become very well known for producing huge action-adventure films and will now bring their experience and passion to television,” says Bonann. “I can't wait!"

Emmett/Furla is fully financing the 22-episode first season of the series without an upfront distribution commitment. They are currently in talks with a number of networks and potential syndication partners, according to a company spokesperson. The show could land on a network or might eventually go out in syndication, with the target to launch fall 2013.

Each episode is expected to cost $2.5 million, which means Emmet/Furla is commited to spend $55 milliion upfront.

“We always knew we’d branch into TV, but we wanted to make sure the timing was right,” says Emmett.

“We applied the same financing and strategy principles we learned from making films to TV production, allowing us to greenlight this production.”

Rescue 3 will feature Los Angeles lifeguards and firefighters as well as the Coast Guard. They will take on challenging calls, do daring rescues and save lives. Each episode will involve all three services.
No casting has been announced as of yet.

Dolph makes after The Expendables, what he has done before. After The Expendables I would have liked movie roles on the big screen. He is good in business, but wants to see him in other movies and not in a low-budget series. :?

$ 2.5 million per episode, this is not a "low budget series". It must be remembered that Lost had a similar average budget per episode, although the pilot cost $ 12 million. I don't think that Lost was a "low cost" serie.

Likewise, the first season of Boardwalk Empire (the series was considered very expensive) has cost 65 million dollars. The first season of rescue3 would cost 55 milion dollars. This is quite close

This budget has to be taken with a pinch of salt because the figures given by Hollywood Reporter and such trades are inflated most of the time.

Even overstated, I don't find (with information that we had) we have low cost series ;)

2.5 million? I think never. Let us be surprised by the result. I hope not, but I have a bad feeling. :|
