I can't say there won't be one, but none is planned at this time as far as I or Goldblatt knows.
And these special features were produced by the German releasing company so if the US distributor wants to make a special edition they'll probably either have to produce their own extras or buy access to the German ones.

Can't repeat it enough: region-free players and firmwares are the way to go, because there's always be an edition you want from another region than yours (just this year you had a region A JOSHUA TREE and a region B PUNISHER, and a region A of DARK ANGEL on the way)!

Listen to Talking Heads' "Psycho Killer" to get an idea of the "Gag Reel", which is kinda of a mix of punk, trash and goofy behind the scenes reel (in glorious 35mm):

Where is the poster in that last image from? And is that Goldblatt's signature?

It's from this trade magazine double page ad
(in Variety and other publication to announce the shoot-start at the former Milan Film Market 1988 - actually it was wrapped or almost wrapped by the time of the market)

As for the signature it's supposed to be Dolph's but it doesn't exactly looks like his, so I wish they'd asked me for one, as I would have sent them a better one. They must have taken an image online to add it on the artwork (so it's not a genuine signature, at least not on this piece)

So how much input did you have with the supplemental stuff?

Not as much as I wish (since they had their liner notes written, had made the special features done and no budget left when I got in touch with them), but I provided all the photos, artworks and lobbycards featured in the booklet and on the disc's gallery (and they included about 115 in the gallery like some rare Japanese ones). Better than Shout Factory who barely used any of my stuff on JT and still great to be part of such a great edition!
(Special thanks to Mark Goldblatt who I think gave me the heads-up that they were working on it when I told me about the Dutch one)

Did they approach Dolph for any input? If I'm honest, it's always seemed that, as with Master Of the Universe, like he's almost embarrased by this film... Dolph doesn't seem to enjoy attatchments with pop culture...

I don't think they did (didn't have the contact) and again by the time I approached them they didn't have any room or budget left for more extras. I assume they spent quite a bit of money on this one (it's all the more admirable that they knew it would be a limited release). The packaging alone would cost 3 or 4 times the price per unit compared to a regular Amaray case, plus Goldblatt's commentary to record and edit or mix (did they flew him to Germany or sent someone in LA?), a telecine and work on the gag reel, on the work-print, plus the work on the film itself etc, which all adds up!

As for Dolph, I don't think he's as embarrassed as with MOTU, but I don't know, sometimes it sounds if he forgot that the movie is not really comic-bookish or different than other of his films. It's strange because even if of course the movie did turn out to be a big movie or box-office hit, it's certainly more than decent, and at the time he was very excited and proud of it. In all the interviews he gave prior and after the release, he was so grateful to have been such a schizophrenic part, his first contemporary/normal American role as Frank Castle (he loved to do the scenes with his family), and a tormented soul who plays CRIME & PUNISHMENT his own way... Not mentioning how he got back to his karate roots for it etc. On the other hand there's still interviews where he seems to like it. Would have to do a proper interview about it...

You tease

I actually think this is one of Dolph's best acting roles, certainly his most complex and morally ambiguous role.

Gotta love the deadpan humor (not the first thing you remember or most prominent about the film)
