Seriously! That cover minus all those 3d- and rating notifications is the closest thing to a Dolph-fans wetdream I have ever seen. It's like the definition of bad-ass. Over-the-top awesomeness!

No it can't be, can you imagine how much that would be for a 120 minutes film, $12 million?! Even for a big movie that'd be a lot of money...

That's what they said the conversion cost for Jurassic Park, about $10M for a 100 minute movie. And according to one article the conversion for Transformers 3 cost a whopping $30M.

I was able to find one article about a company who specialize in 3D conversions for movies meant for Blu-Ray and VOD, and according to them their lowest "C-grade" conversion costs about $2,000 per minute.

I guess the distributors of BOTD must be paying something like that for the conversion.

I would guess there's degrees to it, dependent on how thorough they are, and how much time they spend converting. Jurassic Park will of course spend top dollar making sure it's done as well as possible because it's Spielberg
As for BOTD. They won't even spend half that on converting to 3D. Though being shot in HD, I assume, I'd have thought the conversion would naturally be a little easier. I don't think the 3D will look good at all in this. I hate 3D any how.
I'd guess for a film like BOTD, they'll have found a company to do it for far cheaper than 2000 a minute. Otherwise it's just too much outlay for a DTV film.

A word to this 3D.
I don't think that we Germans love or need this self-made 3D.
I and the people around me doesn't buy DVDs with 3D like this.

And I do not like any 3D. In most of the movies it's only made to earn more money.

I second that. When it turned out that the last UniSol would be shown in 2D at the Fantasy Film Fest despite saying 3D in the program I told the guy in charge that I was actually happy about that because I don't like 3D he said quietly that he doesn't like it either. 3D is just a desperate measure to get people back into cinemas or make them buy new home equipment.

I wish they would save the money and use it for script writers, light or nice scenery.

Ok not quite but it looks pretty impressing. Especially perhaps since my expectations where very low.
Will not get my hopes up but it seems to be doing a lot of things right.

The CG seems to work suprisingly well. The Robots blend well with there enviroment.

I hear it may take the festival route... I mean I just found out it got into a rather big festival for this kind of films.

I thought festivals were for indie actors to blub over their dead wife, not for Dolph Lundgren to team up with a platoon of robots to kill zombies. It's not even as if it is close... But that is good news.
