Speaking of my nan, I wondered when her missing dish towel would show up...Wesley, get my nan's towel off your head! (The worst costumes I have seen since Street Fighter...) Why is there no continuity in the characters...where is Sly's beard?

I guess I'm only one to consider this could be a flashback... also somewhat reminds me of the comic book prequel... by the way didn't people say the same thing about the US4 costumes?

That's the first thing I thought of, but then my thoughts switched to their lazy half-assed attitude to the franchise. Although I don't suspect Sly would let them away with total debauchery of the series. I just have a limp dick for this film for some reason.

Me I never had any expectations for this one so I don't care (and don't wanna play the "action fanboy" game), expect either an EX2 remake or an actual surprise and turn nobody expected (just like the choice of the director) so I can't be too disappointed. I'm also tired of all the BS talks about EXP on all the websites and forums.

I agree. My expectations aren't exactly high... I'm just looking forward to tracking the development of this installment, just like I did the first two. What does worry me however, is that like EX2, this one appears just as rushed. Production has started awfully quickly. It's as if they're writing the script concurrently with the shooting of the film. Granted, we got a rough synopsis a earlier this week, but we still have no idea who Snipes, Banderas, and Ford are all playing. It seems as if Sly and company (i.e. producers, writers, etc.) also don't know, like the story is all being written as they go along. They got the desired actors to sign on the dotted line, only to figure out a placement for them once shooting starts. I'm all for this and psyched just like I was for the previous two... But I'd also like a good story where the stakes are really against the team, rather than a bunch of throwback lines and nods to the stars' previous films.

With that being said, I'm just guessing, but seeing as how Norris, Schwarzenegger, and Van Damme's roles were really just extended cameos in EX2, I'm guessing Snipes is most likely the same. Could this be a flashback sequence with a former EX member, i.e. Snipes?

No use speculating bro. Anyway, we don't know if Snipes turns bad. That's the one thing about TE2, there weren't any twists or like dudes switching sides. In TE1 you had Dolph doing that. That said, Snipes is always better as a baddie, same as Dolph - they really shine in those roles. Personally I thought he was always kinda bland and if possible looks as if he gives less of a shit than Seagal in some of his DTV movies. I do agree about the film seeming rushed and people being slotted in here and there and slapped on like extra fillings on a sandwich, but here's hoping they have actually got a nice story in place this time. Part 1 was a great movie, looking back on it - especially the director's cut. Well balanced.

It looks like they might be filming on Red cameras for this, instead of film. From what you see in the set pics anyway, but they haven't shown anything close up so can't be 100% sure yet. One thing a like in Ex1 and 2 was that they shot on film.

It is a shame, and perhaps another area where Millenium are trying to save money. You kind of get the feeling this one probably won't have the same budget as the second. I think they may be wary of the domestic gross of number 2, as well as recent flops for Sly, Statham and Arnold.
It would have made thematical sense to shoot on film though. It's a giant homage to action films of days gone by. Shooting on film would have added to that. Unless you light RED very well, it looks cheap. It's the best form of HD shooting by far, but it's still not as good to look at as film. :(

Only today the news came out that Star Wars 7 is shooting on film!

I really liked EX2, but it felt more like a montage of clips on Youtube than a fully formed film, I much preferred the first Expendables.
