As for Expendables 3, we got some young blood as the director, a very good Australian director called Patrick Hughes. So it’s back in L.A.. being edited. The first cut is four hours long. I told them, ‘Don’t touch a frame!’ (Laughs)
“[Jason Statham and I] have just a great rapport together. Very often he is very straight, but when he smiles and jokes around he’s good. You might make it in this business, pal. Keep smiling.”

Screen Gems is in final negotiations with “The Expendables 3″ helmer Patrick Hughes to direct a remake of the Gareth Evans cult actioner “The Raid.”
In the original, an elite Indonesian S.W.A.T. team raids a building where a gangster and his thugs are embedded and chaos ensues. The remake will have a similar storyline.
Brad Ingelsby penned the script.
Screen Gems is hoping the buzz behind the original and its sequel, which will bow in the states on March 28, will result in fans coming back for the remake.
While the film may not have the same martial art fighting styles included in this film, Hughes’ background with heavy action should should satisfy both fans of the originals and auds not familiar with the original films.
The WME and Brillstein Entertainment-repped Hughes (pictured) is currently in post on Lionsgate’s “The Expendables 3.”
Mike Leeder i just hope they give him a cast that can handle the physical side of things, and a choreography team that can do it justice....and of course an editor who understands action and doesn't suggest they Bourne identity it all
Todd Brown We're trying our best, Mike ... with a bit of luck you'll be seeing some familiar faces in there.
