Universal Soldier & Rocky IV -Los Angeles- Dolph In Person!

Thanks to anyone who checked out Dammaged Goods' first live event, the Van Damme double feature at the New Bev with Sheldon Lettich in attendance.

Very pleased, honored, proud and excited beyond belief to announce next event: Universal Solider and Rocky IV on the big screen with very special guests, schedules permitting, producer Craig Baumgarten and Dolph Lundgren attending for Q&A!

Many thanks to Jox for being the greatest Dolph Lundgren connoisseur I could ever know and helping to get the ball rolling. I've partnered up with The American Cinematheque and their screening/podcast series Humans From Earth and former LA Times and Entertainment Weekly writer Geoff Boucher to put on a night of cinematic clash of the titans at the beautiful Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood. They've hosted everyone from Mel Gibson to Michael Mann to Kirk Douglas. Like the Van Damme nights, there will be free popcorn for the first people in line, trivia and prizes and of course, custom event shirts and much more.

Yep, like I said the American Cinematheque is much more prestigious than the New Beverly so it's awesome they agreed to host it, it's like accepting Dolph in the great Pantheon of cinema (and the venue is gorgeous and has a great room / screen) !

Wow, that sounds really fantastic. Bummer that it's a few thousand kilometres too far from here. Wish all attendees a great night!

Only a couple of weeks until Dolph night! We're in the calendar, on the webpage and of course, on my site:

If any Dolph board members are going to attend, please let me know so I can get you a tee shirt, custom made for the evening!

Just found out Craig Baumgarten was actually involved in the aborted project MAN TO MAN (1987-88) I recently told you about, so they go way back...

Will write more when I'm not on my phone but this was a fantastic event. Many thanks to everyone involved with putting it together. Best cinematic experience I've ever had.

Here's the pic I was able to get on Friday:

Image

Seeing UNIVERSAL SOLDIER and ROCKY IV on the big screen would have been fantastic enough on its own. Combine that with the Lundgren Q&A and you have an experience for the ages. He told tons of great stories, my favorite being how John Woo would direct him on BLACKJACK without saying a word. Complete with hilarious impression of Woo smoking a cigarette.

The crowd was great. Huge applause in UNIVERSAL SOLDIER during the zipping up of the body bags for Van Damme and Dolph at the beginning.

Sort of scary seeing him immediately surrounded after the Q&A by folks requesting an autograph. Guess he's used to it but I was glad they eventually set up a line in the theater lobby for folks to wait in. Can't say enough how impressed I was to see Lundgren take so much time to sign things for fans, take pictures with them, and basically confirm to all that attended how much of a class act he is. Above and beyond the call of duty.

Wish I had sat closer early on when the trivia questions were asked. Would have loved a shot at that signed copy of UNIVERSAL SOLDIER on VHS. Cool prize.

Just a wonderful event.

He's used to seeing people come to him one on one but less when it's a crowd (it's not everyday there's an EXPENDABLES premiere)!

Oh what a night. Dolph was just so cool. Totally easy going, funny and chill. Craig was great too and I wish I had more time to talk to him but I was nervous haha. So great that Dolph was down to sign and people were loving it, mob city. I should have taken a photo of the prizes I gave out, an original promo button from 92, a signed VHS copy and the custom shirt. I think Dolph had fun so we'll do it again with Masters, I Come In Peace and Skin Trade!

Thanks to Jeremie and all the Dolph fans out here, it was great to meet so many action fans. If you were there and we didn't get a chance to chat, send me a PM and I'll get you a shirt.
