Been gagging to upload this pic for a while. Now that the EX3 trailer is live, I don't care - I'm uploading. This is what a 700 foot wall of fire looks like. Enjoy #installationart

Usually I don't post these types of web preview articles, but I make an exception when it comes from our own Tom, who's not only one of our firs members but a very smart, thoughtful (as insightful) and literate cinephile and writer/critic.

Great read there from Tom! As always I might add.
Tom you are perhaps my favourite film writer. Sharp, entertaining, honest and to the point.

Drones in Movie Shoots: Debate Rages Despite Safety Claims, Cost Savings
Overseas, the unmanned devices — used in Sylvester Stallone's "Expendables 3" — are taking off, but regulatory issues present a major hurdle before they can be used in the U.S.

Now officially rated PG-13 "For violence including intense sustained gun battles and fight scenes, and for language."

A bit too hectic for my taste.

Just further evidence that producers, Lions Gate marketing, etc. is purposely trying to cater to a younger audience in hopes of bringing in a larger crowd. On one hand, I understand this strategy.. The young, new additions to the cast, the PG-13 rating, etc.

On the other hand, it completely goes against the idea and purpose behind making these films in the first place (at least the first EX film). I was always under the impression that the EX movies were to unite the action heroes from yesterday and pay the ultimate tribute to the action films of the 80's and 90's. Then again, the other films released in the past couple years that were guilty pleasure throwbacks, i.e. THE LAST STAND, BULLET TO THE HEAD, ESCAPE PLAN, SABOTAGE, were duds at the box office, so at this point, Lions Gate is doing what they can to generate more word of mouth and more dough.

May not agree with it, but in the end it's about money and marketing.
