Postby Dida on 05 Jul 2016, 17:37

This just showed up at the WMI website:

LT. DRAKE COLE (STEVEN SEGAL) discovers a nefarious international plot, to release a deadly virus which was stolen by an ex military mad man RICHARDS (DOLPH LUNDGREN), who's set on changing the global political landscape. Cole employs his most trusted agent, BURTON LEE on the job. However, Lee has a problem, a CIA agent whom he has had a relationship with in the past is also on the job, JILLIAN.

The situation between them escalates into a war of the roses as they battle for their country and each other. They realize that if they're to stop Richards from infecting the world they must forgo their national allegiance and join forces to protect the only woman who has created an immunity to the virus, ANNA.

Lt. Cole remotely guides the trio back to the United States through a gauntlet of bounty hunters, spies and killers all gunning for Richards. However, when both Lee and Jillian Become injured and Richards is close to releasing the virus, Lt. Cole sets out to kill Richards and put an end to the threat.

I just know there's been one or two projects (was it FOUR TOWERS ?) with Seagal and Lundgren that almost happened in the past two years. Will see that if that one gets through...

The plot sounds ludicrous. Back in the day when you had Van Damme and Lundgren signing up for UNIVERSAL SOLDIER you knew you'd had a bang for your buck but if the projects don't live up to their names there's nothing to look forward to, especially with Seagal...

That said it it sounds better than some of the other recent projects (as much as I don't mind the pairing with Denise Richards, ALTITUDE sounds like it's gonna be a sleep fest even if it's shot decently, PASSENGER 57 was 23-24 years ago guys!).

I'd be surprised if this happens. I also love how these companies give so little care about these projects they can't even be bothered to spell the names of their headlining stars right. 'Segal.' And Dolph has been referred to as either 'Dolf' or 'Lundren' on countless occasions.

This would be written and directed by a certain Brian Skiba, who did several shorts and low budget features over the past decade, he just wrapped an MMA flick entitled CHOKE HOLD and a sci-fi/horror called DEPRIVATION...

The project seems very "hypothetic" even according to some of the people involved though.

And it brought up rumours that it's a new version of another current Seagal project called GUNFIGHTER, but it's NOT the same project (not the same writer, director, plot, production/sales company)!

No, it's not the same project. Gunfighter will be directed by Keoni Waxman and is not a project of VMI but The Exchange (who did Kickboxer Vengeance)

Maybe you guys didn't know, but I am one of the moderators of the unoffical Seagal fansite and also a big Lundgren fan.

I can confirm that Seagal definitely said yes to the project....

Capaldi's involvement guarantees I'll be avoiding it if it comes to fruition.

Gianni Capaldi seemed as surprised by the news as anyone on his FB page...but definitely up for doing it.

I interpreted it more as a surprise that the word got out while saying "it's not a done deal, let's see if that becomes real" kind of thing and tagging the director before his name popped out.

Yeah I suppose. Still, I just can't see this one happening. At least not with Dolph and Seagal. If it actually did I cannot see SS dropping his ego enough for a decent end showdown.

Yup, seems like a long shot even if VMI is putting it out there and pushing it...
I'm still baffled about the plot though (or how it's written on the site and reads almost like a kids cartoon from the 80s).
