It's his extended introduction scene from the beginning, before his "warning shot"... The extras here are pretty much the same as the first release of the theatrical cut (except maybe for the "ultimate reckon mode").

A pirate walks into a bar with a parrot on his shoulder. He orders a drink and drops his pants to reveal he has a steering wheel for a dick. The bartender asks "What is that?" and the pirate says "I don't know, BUT IT'S DRIVING ME NUTS"

http://whysoblu.com/expendables-4k-uhd-blu-ray-review/
Video 4/5
Encoding: HEVC / H.265

Resolution: 4K (2160p)

Aspect Ratio: 2.35:1

Layers: BD-66

Clarity/Detail: This 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray upgrade for The Expendables is a solid uptick in terms of crafting more depth, sharpness and opening up a bit more detail. However, it creates a little darker look and this film is very dark to begin with. CGI in the film becomes a bit more obvious with this as well, having this join the ranks of 4K films with very fake looking fire. While noticeable, its not entirely distracting.

Depth: Depth work is a little bit more separated in terms of background/foreground relations. Skies have a nice pushed back feel with certain camera pans. In cockpit and driver’s seat rear blue-screen feels plenty separated and looks more obvious. Movements are smooth, cinematic and contain no jitter or blurring effect.

Black Levels: Damn, this is a dark film, and a lot of the action takes place at night. This transfer does well by saturating it, but it still loses much detail just because of the nature of this beast. No crushing present in this viewing for the review.

Color Reproduction: Aside from Mickey Rourke’s tattoo parlor or a neon sign on the outside of a building, the film doesn’t offer much to show of its HDR capabilities. Fire roars with some blasting orange and some reds and the like look bold on clothing, but nothing really lifts off the screen to make you wow’d by it.

Flesh Tones: Skin tones are natural with a hint of warmth during that Latin America sequences, keeping solid throughout the film. Facial details have improved from the Blu-ray, more refined with the stubble, wrinkles, bruises and cuts and much more visible in further away shots than they were before.

Noise/Artifacts: Some film grain present that appears looking slightly like noise, but it isn’t. Primarily present in the rear projection/blue screen driving/flying sequences or just plan blue sky.

Audio 5/5
Audio Format(s): English Dolby Atmos (English 7.1 Dolby TrueHD compatible), English 2.0 Optimized for Late Night Viewing, Spanish 5.1 Dolby Digital, French 5.1 Dolby Digital

Subtitles: English, English SDH, Spanish

Dynamics: And here we have the least expendable feature of this release, this rocking out Atmos track. This thing is LOUD! Whatever your normal volume setting it, this is going to roast it. Its a deep, bass-heavy track that puts you right in the action and has a very “ride-like” feel to the movie. Things pummel, explode or just plain drive around on a hog loudly. You’re sure to really be blown back and bouncing while watching this movie.

Height: The film has been remastered to include some bullets whizzing, explosions, debris and other things flying by overhead while also adding to the ambiance of environments.

Low Frequency Extension: Your sub is gonna be worn out after this. Explosions, gun shots, mega big friggin gun blasts, planes, roaring engines, punches, kicks, crashes…and all of it done to the max.

Surround Sound Presentation: Bullets, military men yelling, other fights going on, crumbling, and more span around the entire room and well thought out. Sound traveling is accurate to screen as well as the placement of character vocals and action in terms of distance.

Dialogue Reproduction: With how deep this track is and booming, sometimes when the dialogue comes back in it feels a little muffled behind it all, but its actually pretty normal and fine here with its clarity and performance overall.

Extras 4/5
The Expendables comes with the Blu-ray edition and an UltraViolet digital copy. All bonus materials are featured on the standard Blu-ray disc. No new bonus features have been added as the Blu-ray disc is the same as the previous release for the theatrical edition.

Vital Disc Stats: The Ultra HD Blu-ray

The Expendables comes with a dual-layered UHD66 Disc and a Blu-ray Disc of the film. The Blu-rays are Region A Locked. There is an insert for a Digital HD copy as well. The discs are housed in a hard, black plastic case with a cardboard sleeve too.

The Video: Sizing Up the Picture

The UHD release of The Expendables is presented in 4K Ultra HD with an HEVC H.265 encode in 2160p and a 2.35:1 aspect ratio. The Expendables was filmed in Super 35mm and finished as a 2K Digital Intermediate before this release, which was up-converted to 4K UHD with an impressive HDR10 / WCG grading.

You're going to notice an uptick in detail and color here for sure, enough so that you'll want to re-buy this release if you're a fan of the film. I wouldn't say this new 4K UHD release changes the format or will win awards, but for fans of the action franchise, this is by far the best this film has looked so far. The film has a dark tone throughout with flashes of deep primary colors. Explosions show red and orange fire nicely, where you can see embers change color as they rise and fall.

The rich orange and yellow in the fire look excellent. Neon signs provide a good color boost and the inside of the tattoo parlor is ripe with warmer colors to soothe the palette. You'll be able to see every ink color on Stallone's body nicely here, as it pops right off the screen, for better or worse. Most of the other moments have a steely gray and blue look and are steeped in darker tones. The HDR certainly ups the ante in color, by showing us varying shades of blues, blacks, and grays, and while you shouldn't expect a bright image here, it is more realistic and looks pretty fantastic. Like I said, if you're a fan of the film, you're going to enjoy this upgrade.

Moving on to the detail, which has a slight uptick, but it's nothing really to write home about. Closeups reveal facial stubble and individual hairs on the actor's faces, as well as some nice gore wounds and makeup effects, which always look good. Beads of sweat and drops of blood stand out too. The tactical uniforms show good stitching and explosions show tons of detailed debris flying all over the place. The heavy CGI scenes look a bit soft and perhaps a little fake, but that is the case sometimes with 4K. It's not an overt hindrance to the viewing experience, but it is noticeable. Black levels are deep and inky without any crush, and the skin tones are mostly natural. There were no major instances of any banding, aliasing, or video noise, leaving this video presentation with solid marks for fans.

The Audio: Rating the Sound

This UHD release of The Expendables has an English: Dolby Atmos track that is completely demo worthy of an action movie. If you want to showcase your new audio system and Dolby Atmos setup, then by all means, put this disc in and watch your friends be blown away. The word of the day here is "loud" and this mix certainly delivers on that notion from start to finish, and with plenty of heft to back it up. This movie is turn-it-up-to-11 loud with guns blazing, bullets flying, explosions exploding, vehicles roaring, and people yelling.

With all of these effects happening at once, it could be difficult to hear details. However, this Dolby Atmos track nails it with the newly designed overhead effects -- you'll be able to hear the debris fall overhead, bullets whiz by, and planes soar past. Every car engine, explosion, and gun blast packs a powerful punch with a ton of bass that will rattle your bones and walls. Your entire speaker system will have a wonderful workout. Each sound is loud and well balanced with excellent directionality that fully immerses you into the center of the audio chaos.

The rock score always adds to the suspense of each scene and the ambient noises sound excellent. The dialogue is crystal clear and easy to follow throughout, although some of Stallone and Rourke's dialogue can be a bit mumbled, but that's really just the actor's dialect and not a transfer problem. If you like your sound loud, immersive, and full of explosions, this is one of the best.
Final Thoughts

The Expendables is a fun film that has spawned a few sequels with more on the way. Stallone really hit gold by making a fun and enjoyable action film with all of his action buddies from the 80s. Full of one-liners, explosions, and recognizable faces, this first film is a great start to a film franchise. The newly mastered 4K video and HDR look excellent, but would probably only be noticed by fans of the film who've seen it before. If this is your first time into The Expendables, you won't notice much in the way of HDR. On the other hand, the Dolby Atmos audio is simply phenomenal (and loud!), is the perfect audio option for this entertaining action film, and makes this package worth buying all on its own. There are no new extras here, but all the previous ones are imported over on the Blu-ray Disc. Highly Recommended!

Another 4K Blu-ray review, it's a shame it doesn't seem they came back to a film source to make a proper 4K scan...
http://flix66.com/expendables-4k-ultra- ... ay-review/
Video: THE EXPENDABLES is another Lionsgate catalog title upgraded from a 2K transfer that shows the expected upgrades. Closeups are clearer, clothing has more detail and the HDR helps out the darker scenes greatly. There are a couple of explosions that came off looking a little fake with the added 4K detail, but other than that, this is a pretty standard 4K upgrade. It won’t blow you away, but if you’re a fan of the film, you’ll appreciate the improvements.

Audio: The included Dolby Atmos track is a nice treat and might be worth the upgrade for those on the fence. Say what you want about THE EXPENDABLES, but all three films are in-you-face loud.

This title was reviewed using a Samsung UBD-K8500 with a Sony XBR75X850C TV.

The 4K UHD does not contain any exclusive features, but it does include a Blu-ray of the film and you can read our review by clicking THE EXPENDABLES Blu-ray Review

Bollywood remake in the works

(I guess they always get away with remaking Hollywood movies because they never try to sell them outside of India?)

Blu-ray.com 4K review
http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-Expen ... 38/#Review
Video Quality 4K 4.0 of 5

The Expendables is presented on 4K UHD courtesy of Lionsgate Films with a 2160p transfer in 2.40:1. The Expendables was shot on good old fashioned celluloid and finished at a 2K DI, and like so many other similar properties, the 4K UHD upgrade is at times subtle but noticeable, in terms of both detail levels and (perhaps especially) a better, more nuanced, accounting of the palette courtesy of HDR. I had actually forgotten how dark so much of this film is, with huge swaths playing out in minimally lit or nighttime settings, and the 4K UHD presentation increases shadow definition at least marginally, including the whole opening 20 minute or so stretch where virtually everything takes place in various shadowy environments (this proclivity is revisited later for much of the second half of the film, with a similar uptick in shadow definition throughout). Occasional CGI, including some greenscreen elements, are a little more noticeable now. There are some appealing and even evocative new tones in several sequences, including the kind of cool looking blue-purple scene between Rourke and Stallone late in the film. Grain is a little noisy looking on occasion, but nowhere near the levels seen in The Expendables 2 4K.

Audio Quality 5.0 of 5

I didn't hesitate to state that the original Blu-ray release of The Expendables featured reference quality audio (courtesy of a DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 track), and that excellence is certainly only continued, and arguably increased, with the 4K UHD disc's fantastic sounding Dolby Atmos track. The fun starts right at the beginning with the old style Lionsgate gear logo, which has some new overhead sonics courtesy of the Atmos channels. But this is an incredibly effective track at virtually every turn once the film actually begins. There is increased force in elements like the rumbling of the motorcycle engines or the panning sounds of the plane the guys use to get to various locations. And of course the huge set pieces with their attendant explosions and gunfire provide a riot of immersion and some really (as in really) impressive LFE. Despite the overwhelming noise of some sequences, dialogue typically comes through quite clearly and is well prioritized on this very exciting track.

Overall Score and Recommendation 3.5 of 5

The video upgrade here is subtle but noticeable, and certainly more pleasing than that seen in The Expendables 2 4K, and the audio is simply amazing throughout, but why Lionsgate took a step backward and didn't port over any supplements to the 4K UHD disc is a little perplexing. At least those features are available on the 1080p Blu-ray also included in this package. Recommended.
