Stockholm, 1998
This is when Dolph passed his grueling exam for 3rd Dan I think (which he wanted to take on before the shoot of BRIDGE OF DRAGONS)...

Training in Cape Town with Shihan Michael Bracale, likely during RED SCORPION (or while waiting for the location move from Swaziland to Namibia). Bracale is the Tameshiwari world record holder, breaking a total of 28 pieces of wood at the Third World Open Karate Tournament in 1983.

Rare piece of Dolph's and Kyokushin Karate history here, the infamous fight that opposed the then Swedish green belt against the world champion Makoto Nakamura at the 1979 World Tournament. There was a winner but even master Oyama didn't approve the decision of judges so there's been two prolongations... Lundgren made a huge sensation at this tournament that people still remember today.

20 years ago, Dolph was training with Brian Fitkin at his old club in Stockholm for his 3rd Dan examination in July. He wanted to obtain his "Sandan" before filming Shito Ryu karateka Isaac Florentine's BRIDGE OF DRAGONS that August...

Swedish magazine FIGHTER ran a cover and article with interview and pics from Dolph's training and couple from the grading exam:
