SILENT TRIGGER (Russell Mulcahy, 1996)

Postby urnemesis69 on 09 May 2005, 08:13

Hi

I was wondering if anyone can advise me whether SILENT TRIGGER is available on DVD in a genuine widescreen format.

I have it in 4x3 ratio and weary I may acquire another when my intention is to get the widescreen version.

Furthermore, if it is available, could you advise on any good online retailers that will have a copy?

Thanks

have you tried play.com or amazon.com, s&h is free with play but you have to pay postage with amazon. just check which format it is on first or maybe try e-mailing them to ask- its worth a try.both sites are good but my personel favourite has to be play.com,they are very fast and very reliable. hope this helps.

SILENT TRIGGER DVD

Postby BrunnenMatt on 07 Jul 2005, 04:10

Hey, just wanted to know if anybody has the R2 France disc title "Assassin Warrior" release by Studio Canal.

I wanted to know if this has 'forced French subtitles' when watching the English soundtrack? And what is the aspect ratio (1.85:1 or 2.35:1)?

Notice IMDB listed it as 2.35 but saw the specs at "Amazon.fr" with 1.85.

This is the only version I can find that is 'Anamorphic' and includes the 'Theatrical Trailer' and is 'Uncut'.

I hope somebody can help, have not seen this for ages and would like to pick it up. Thanks in advance,

I have to correct this, the french DVD IS in the 2.35:1 CINEMASCOPE aspect ratio, even if it says 1.85 on the cover... the subtitles are forced, and the trailer is french dubbed, but yes this is the best edition so far...

I was hoping this was not True ! thanks for the info.

:?: Hows the quality of the print, and have you seen it against the 4:3 releases to compare the picture image?

 Let's hope another region release this movie soon with the same image.

Thanks again,

Just received Silent Trigger from Italy, the movie is 2.35:1 (16:9) :D , but only contains 3 Italian dubbed audio tracks .

The shop told me it contained an English DD 2.0 track, but unfortunately only a dubbed soundtrack, On-line shop was nice enough to refund my money :D.

Here's hoping for a release in its original aspect ratio soon! The first 2 minutes sounded nice in DTS 5.1 :D. but I turned it of around the church/helicopter scene, looks like a good movie. I guess I will see this movie one day, but not just yet. I prefer OAR then the 4:3 transfer in R1!

that's too bad but thanks for the info because I was gonna give this edition a try myself... does it bother you if it has subtitles? the french DVD is only in Dolby 2.0 but it's 2.35 16/9 and has the english track, it's the best version so far I guess even though they re-designed the main titles police and put the cheesy "Assassin Warrior" title instead.

Yeah, I think after awhile this would put a damper on the experience :(. The French have a lot of Dolph Movies in the original aspect ratio (OAR), but there all include forced subtitles .

well yeah... the thing is a lot of the times (meaning when it's not a big studio movie) the distributors are obligated by contract to force subtitles so that they don't eat on english speaking countries markets
