Two years ago our team of monks at @siddhayatanretreat decided to make a #film about #humantrafficking . We didn't know much about it. We were not educated in filmmaking. We didn't have money for a big production. BUT we were driven by a desire to do "something". We did a kickstarter campaign, went in full force to learn about the dark world of trafficking, interviewed inspiring individuals and heard heartbreaking stories, and after a short amount of time editing, we entered the film festival circuit winning Best Picture at our first festival. People began to believe in us and our message, which motivated us to find a film agent, get distributed and with great luck we got picked up for a limited theatrical. The point is we knew nothing and had nothing... but what we did have was a purpose to help this movement, to help enslaved souls, and a promise to ourselves that we'd never give up in our pursuit.
