Some of the highlights of my week were hanging out with my friend of 16 years the composer Dennis Dreith, meeting Mark Goldblatt in person for the first time in 12 years of phone & email correspondance, and meet with the very sweet and exquisite Kim Miyori / Lady Tanaka!
All three are just gentle, adorable, grounded persons with no ego and a fun personality...

It was a treat to present the PUNISHER book manuscript to the lovely, legendary editor and cinephile extraordinaire Mark Goldblatt last week.

Our first discussion goes back 12 years ago, long before this book was ever planned, and here he was, starting to read the current draft, almost like a kid would open his Xmas present...!

It can be humbling and embarrassing to show your own words to an artist who was involved in the work you're writing about, but this was not at all, on the contrary!

Comment from Mark on FB:
"I am eagerly anticipating the publication of Jeremie Damoiseau's in-depth examination of THE PUNISHER (1989) in English. It's very comprehensive and entertaining."

Video tape from Russia, perhaps a bootleg from back in the day?

I watched "Mr Nice Guy" with Jackie Chan yesterday, and the voice of a character (an old cooking chef) sounded familiar, but his face wasnt. And then in the credits ... Barry Otto was on board.

He's been many, many things, from shakespearian theatre to B exploitation like THE HOWLING III to several Baz Luhrmann's movies such BALLROOM DANCING (1992) or THE GREAT GATSBY. And he's an artist as well, currently honoured with his own exhibition in Sydney. My understanding is that Barry Otto is a like a beacon, a very respected, acclaimed actor in Australia.

3 years and a half since the publication of my French edition book, one of the best reviews of the film AND the book! (and I have yet to see one bad review - in French obviously)
