Pretty accurate really. I think Red Scorpion and The Shooter are pretty underrated on IMDB.

A lot of his highest rated used to have significantly lower ratings and there was a time that D's best starrers, barely scraped over a five. So I'd say time has certainly been kind to his peak era films. Red Scorpion has jumped from something like 3.9 back in the day to just over 5 now. Shooter used to have mid 4's, but is over 5. I think in part it's the number of votes helping because the IMDB rating system is odd. It's not a median rating, but takes into consideration many factors. The high the votes, the closer their rating tends to get to an actual median too. The Punisher has seemingly had a significant rise too because I recall the ratings for that being low, a slap bang 5, but it's certainly become more popular in the last decade.
JC, Seagal etc, all those guys have found similar with their prime era work. It'll be interesting to see how much some of these rise by, or continue to. I think the expendables era, and maybe an oversatuation have CGI filled blockbusters has given a lot of people cause to re-evaluate these old films. 6+ ratings were almost unheard of for Norris, D, SS, JCVD, but they're getting a few more now. I can see the likes of M.O.W and Punisher pushing over that line.

Mind you it matters, we all know these are all 10/10 films.

My favourite SILT on the 1st place. Agree with that but rating is low, should be around 6.5 in my opinion. Re-editing and short runtime play a little bit on rating, but I am still proud of it . Everyone I know and ask about Dolph they will mention SILT as one of the best work where he played the lead role. What about u Jox ? The Punisher or Dark Angel (I have this feeling)?

Even Dolph mentioned in one interview that SILT was one of his best roles he ever played and he really liked the character,In my opinion t was just studio's ego dumping it after screen test result and desire to make Brandon Lee the second lead...

To me I still find it odd and amusing that SHOWDOWN has become such a favorite (I didn't get that sense even on this forum back in the day) although I get the fun factor of it that most people prefer over seriousness (proof is that the other top title here is DARK ANGEL and both films have a lot in common). Not mentioning the fact that it's one of late Brandon Lee's very few roles... :(

It's kind of ironic though, as SILT was one that was released straight-to-video in most countries (and often as Dolph's first DTV).

What about u Jox ? The Punisher or Dark Angel (I have this feeling)?

I don't really like to play that game because I'd need to make different lists or categories, but if you ask me, MEN OF WAR is his best starring film, followed closely by THE MECHANIK. Some days I would put SILENT TRIGGER as a follow up #3. Otherwise if you ask my pre-teen self, like Tom said they're all 10/10 movies!

I mean as for many here, MASTERS was everything for me, and then seeing every of his films in theaters at a very young age made a very strong impression on me, whether it was RED SCORPION, THE PUNISHER, DARK ANGEL, even COVER-UP... I was between 10 and 12 when I saw those on the big screen so you can imagine.

Even Dolph mentioned in one interview that SILT was one of his best roles he ever played

Which interview???

It was a russian magazine from early 2000 or late 90 (i am not sure now) there was a retrospective about his actor career. When time came about SILT he mentioned that he really liked the character and role of Chris Kenner despite the production trouble of the movie. Maybe he wasn't impressed with the final cut and result this is another question, but character has nothing to do with it. U know there actors who liked the character and filming process but not the final product ..... it happens. I have the magazine in my parents house.

Maybe he had clashes with Mark L Lester on the set, disagreements because he wanted to make a sort of Commando 2 and studio pushed Brandon Lee as the second lead. I my opinion It was Dolph vehicle hit and Brandon was supportive actor even if he played good and funny. In my opinion Brandon signed for Rapid FIre but they didn't have finl script yet and 20th Century Fox wanted to make him their action star like Seagal for Warner . At the same time Lee signed another contract with Warner Bros in SILT because deal with 20th Century Fox was unclear - no script yet for Rapid Fire. But in SILT he wasn't the lead, can u imagine 20th Century Fox situation when they wanted to promote him like a new action star son of Bruce Lee when he already played a supportive role in another action movie almost at the same time. Catastrophe .. Executives , producers started to beg each other to make him a lead in Dolph's movie. And Dolph has nothing to say -they steeled his movie and shared with someone else that's why why back in time he was unhappy with that. Even Seagal was involved in that "backstage", Dolph was more like invited star in SILT not the one who take decision. It was his attempt to become a studio actor like Seagal and it didn't work... Dolph was 'prisonnier' of the situation in my words...
But time passed (almost 30 years) and Dolph and others have realized that movie become classic. I watched a video on youtube showing Dolph's house in Sweden and back on the wall it was a big a poster of SILT . Guy will never put in his house a poster of the movie he didn't like ...

For example Dolph mentioned in one interview that The Expendables 2 was very interesting to shoot on the set, funny scenes but when it ended in editing room - they cut out a lot and he "kind" of wasn't that impressed with the final cut like with the process itself ( when u have all this action stars on the same set ). Even i think in EX2 he had almost nothing to show to the audience - scene where he was snoring and shooting with the others and that is it. EX1 is another story - Gunner was a really complet character with his own story

Yeah Men of War (1994) is also in my top 5. But again it is almost unknown in the US, no distribution , promotion like Crying Freeman(1995) for Mark Dacascos - jewel for international action fans and never got a release in the US and again unknown for the US audience
