According to our trusted and proven source, He-Man is getting a live-action reboot series and it is in development at Netflix. It won’t be long until we are returning to Castle Grayskull with Prince Adam and company.
Netflix may have its Masters of the Universe animated reboot coming, but for awhile there, we were also supposed to get a live-action film.
The Dark Knight and Man of Steel writer David S. Goyer penned a script a few years back for Sony Pictures and Mattel Films. The studio decided not to move forward on the project, but during The Hollywood Reporter’s deep-dive career-retrospective interview, Goyer offered up some intriguing details on his unmade Masters of the Universe script.
“I legitimately liked the script that we did,” said Goyer, who, in 2017, was also in talks to direct the film. “What I liked the most about it was that it was mostly about a friendship between He-Man and Battle Cat. The idea was there had always been He-Men and different recipients of the Sword of Power, and that Battle Cat had always served at their side. And this was a new He-Man that Battle Cat and many people didn’t think was worthy of the sword. So it was a story of the character earning the sword but, more importantly, earning the friendship of Battle Cat, who just thought this guy was a lightweight. I really liked it. I thought it was a fun story. There was a lot of humor in it, and it creeps up on you because Battle Cat sort of grudgingly accepts him, and it’s Battle Cat’s acceptance of He-Man that gave this version of the story heart.”
A She-Ra live-action series is in early development at Amazon, Variety has learned exclusively.
As the project is in the very early stages, no writer is currently attached. DreamWorks Animation will serve as an executive producer after recently producing the Netflix animated series “She-Ra and the Princesses of Power.” However, the live-action version will be a new, standalone story and will not be connected to the animated show.
While speaking exclusively with Screen Rant to discuss the adventure rom-com The Lost City, directors Adam and Aaron Nee shared a Masters of the Universe movie filming update. The duo revealed that the fantasy reboot will not begin filming until Spring 2023 due to the time needed to properly prepare for the "huge beast of a movie." See what Adam Nee said below:"It's coming along great, it'll be next year. Coming right off of Lost City was too tight, it's such a huge beast of a movie that it needs real prep time. So we're working on it now and working towards it starting next spring."
